The number of drama queens on this site never ceases to amaze me. People either want to cry about the Echo running a story which, lets be honest, we all know is true. Or they want to cry about the Club not running a story about a transfer before it's completed just weeks after many of the same people were criticising them over the James Walker affair.
Oh yes, and there are those who are crying over the disgraceful treatment of our third best midfielder being allowed to get first team football elsewhere. What shameful behaviour by the Club.
And yes I am crying about this, before anyone points it out.

Not sure who "The drama Queens are"
But in my opinion the black and white is that Phillips got hold of a more then likely true story from probably a very reliable source but before confirming it with the club, Kevin or his agent he ran the story. Ron got pi*ssed off at it because it had not been finalised so he put his views across quite rightly on the OS.
IMO.....Phillips has himself to blame for submitting a story that was here say instead of a confirmed fact. I guess when you are a jerno you have to make an educated decision to go with your reliable source or not. Although if the source was that reliable he would have told him that it is not 100% finalised would he??
I don’t think that anyone really believes he is not going, it is just that we would like to hear it from the OS first and as it was/is not a done deal that is why the OS had up until now made no statement.

Phillips doesn't have to find anyone to blame because he hasn't done anything wrong.
I agree with your last paragraph. It's right that the club didn't make any comment at the time because there was no finalised transfer to comment on and they can't be issuing a public statement about every rumour that ever gets discussed on here.
It's also right that the Echo run stories like this one. I don't see any major difference between Chris Phillips running this story and someone breaking a story on here, other than Chris is accountable if he's wrong rather than hiding behind a computer screen.
It just seems to me that half the people on here seem to stagger from day to day looking for the next thing to get angry or melodramatic about.

It could be true ?
On what has emerged this apprears to be irresponsible reporting of rumours which have been circulating for weeks.
With such a senstive subject, wonder did Mr Phillps invite the club to comment before going to publish his story - have not read it myself ?

At worst Chris Phillips has been premature in his announcement but it's safe to assume that whoever his sources are, they're very close to the club.
It's pretty clear that Maher's off though and Ron Martin is just looking for the best deal for the club. For that reason he's got every right to be annoyed too, an article like that doesn't do much for his bargaining position.

I think that the Owners of this forum have to be equally as careful......for example the Macca incident, they were totally right to close and delete it, the wrong thing said on here could quite easily get this forum closed down for good, have seen it happen a few times before.
I might like a really good debate and pi*ss people off with some of my views or posts ( not that I give a …..) but I would never ever post anything that could potentially close this forum down.

This getting ridiculous now. Chris is employed by the Echo, not the club. He doesn't have to run anything by Ron, and anyhow, why should he? It's not as though Ron, Tilly or Brush have offered the paper any comment on Maher's exclusion from the team nor did they have the decency to acknowledge it.
If journalists had to have all of their stories approved before going to print, then the sports pages of papers would be very empty, and we'd all be very bored.
Someone suggested Chris may be punished by the Echo...............I've never known the paper to create such a fuss and I'm sure this isn't affecting sales.
So, when Maher finally signs for the Gills will you still be slagging off Chris and the paper, or will you appreciate that we have a local journo with his ear to the ground?

If you research the percentage of editor approved column width articles that go to press you will see that 78% are reactionary, so yes i guess the papers will still have NEWS in them. (FACT)
