Maher going nowhere says unhappy Ron

One final point to bear in mind is that it is also important to give younger players an opportunity - at the appropriate time - for otherwise there is no point in having a youth policy. If the younger players cannot see light at the end of the tunnel and feature in the first team they equally get disheartened and drop off the assembly line. I accept this is a difficult balance but the Club's management has always done its best to field the strongest team whilst at the same time growing the Club.

That seems very interesting and is similar to what some people were saying on here yesterday about the Moose and possibly Grant (although he's only here on loan) getting some game time.

Anyway, well done to Uncle Ron for getting the statement out and perhaps it's time for Chris Phillips to issue some kind of clarification of his own in the Echo tomorrow?

Pubey - Chris Phillips is a journalist, you may wish to look up the word and find out what it means.

I know full well what it means. I'm sure the club will always inform us when a deal is done... obviously a deal was never done but Chris Phillips has still written a major piece saying it had. It seems crazy to me that the Echo are physically able to know that a deal has been done before the club know it has!!! If the article was speculation (as it must have been) then to write the article as fact (as it claims) is probably fraud of some kind. I'm not slating journalists, and i've never met Chris Phillips personally... but he has ballsed up yet again and probably made King Kevs, and the clubs lives difficult over the last 24 hours

Agree with Bill here.

If anything, I think the Echo spends too much time just beating the Official club drum and not enough time doing proper journo work.

Not saying they should become like certain papers and spread nonsense, but if Phillips knows of a story he should print it. FFS, we all get our news from other clubs' websites, messageboards and local papers. The stuff on the OS is jsut confirmation.

On this occasion, his Elvis story is good work. Now he needs to go out and sniff out some more.

I think this maybe the issue here. How comes the news is broken first in the Echo? They need to come to some sort of agreement or set of PR rules with them. Whether the club are tying up loose ends or not, the bottom line is that the news is out already and its clearly before the club are ready to announce anything so something needs to be said, to the fans or Chris Phillips/Echo.
Chris Phillips is a journalist. It's what he is paid to do!!

I think a lesson learnt is what a fair few of us said on this thread.......until it appears on the OS treat it as a rumour no matter how much you want it or don’t want it to be true

A_S read above

Nothing has been sorted but there still seems to be a very strong possibility of him leaving on loan soon. Nothing definate yet though

Report false information????

Yeah, very true that is what Journalist do

Although next time he reports on a big Southend United news story.....how credible do you think it will be viewed as......

Peter and the Wolf springs to mind

Have read it mate....Just saying that unless the OS confirms or denies these sorts of stories then there is no point in putting any faith in them being true

Your half right. Kev got two that day while Macca popped up with the winner (I think)

Maher scored to make it 1-0 Preston score 2, 2-1

Macca scores a great goal to make it 2-2 then Maher pops up to make it 3-2 great day out :finger:

Not really.

It's not even libellous or defamatory as it doesn't exactly lower the peoples estimation of Maher.

Fact of the matter is to write an article such as the one that appeared yesterday, Phillips must've heard from a reliable source that the deal was either a) done or, as i suspect, b) being finalised.
