When a club are trying to offload a player the will often loan him out whilst still paying all or most of his wages, for example MK Dons are only paying £2,000 a week of Alan Smith's £40,000 a week, Newcastle are still paying the rest.

There could be a deal here and with Dicko out for the season I think it is a risk worth taking!

Agreed, and with a TRUE SUPPORTER as CEO, who knows!!?? He'll have seen much more of Freddy than anyone still at the club.

Freddy has made 4 apperances as a sub these season and no goals scored is that seriously worth taking a gamble on for the remainder of our season, personally i think it would be waste of time having freddy back here

Absolutely because Benyon, Sturrock Jr, Flood, Asante, Crawford's knee and roasted Bluebelle's will all score stack-loads between now and May.

I see that Swindon have signed Jonathan Tehoue on loan from Orient - he could have "done a job" for us (although I've only seen him play once .....)

Added to which Coventry want him off their books, so I'd say tey wouldn't be up for funding his return to the Essex Riviera.

Man City wanted Adebayor off of their books but they're still paying the lions share of his wages to play at Spurs. If Coventry have a choice between paying the £100k left on Eastwood's contract or paying £80k then it would make sense for them to pay the £80k, especially if they've no intention to play him. They've been trying to give him away for six months.

Sorry but there no way Freddy would be wanted back here under the present management. Apart from being well over weight acording to the Coventry sites and apparently injured at the moment our style of play since the Tilly years has changed dramatically. He won't get the ball played into his feet now but be expected to chase after it down the channels and close down defenders, most of the time on his own. He'd be carried off knacked after only 15 mins if he came here now.

Agreed and also he would enter The Guinness Book of Records for the amount of times caught off-side in 1 game

Well said, and may i add, he's been no good since scoring that goal against manure. It would also bring the A127 to a standstill while he rides up and down in his pony and trap!!:winking:

Our style of play has not changed dramatically at all since Tilson!

It's a myth!

Smack it up to Goater play it out to the wings, go from there, but I'm not getting into that boring conversation again!

Also Eastwood isn't even necessarily needed or wanted or wants to come here or does be even want to play anymore?

at least a couple of those players are fit to play where eastwood is not what is the point of bringing a player back to just to sit on the sidelines - totaly pointless and a waste on money that this club does not seems to have at this present time

Have a watch of the promotion dvds and tell me how many goals were scored like that and then compare that to the ones scored from passes to feet. Even in league 2 under Tilly it was like watching Brazil compared to the footy we play now in my opinion.

If it wasnt that different the topic would of never have come up would it?

Nonsense.

We played far more on the floor than we do now and we certainly did not "smack it up to Goater". Maher was instrumental in that season and he never hit it long and always brought wingers in (hence his crab like status).

Eastwood did not score dozens of goals by running on to long direct balls, he picked it up to feet 30 yards out most of the time.

League 2 always has been scrappy. I can't be bothered to bring out the stats of how many massive blokes we've had upfront.

It's a matter of opinion I suppose and to me the difference between our style of play for the 14 years I've been watching out of my 21 years that I've been alive, our style of play has always been fairly basic.

We had some complete magicians in Tilson's teams but we still played direct at times. It's always been scrappy. We had brilliant players. I'm not denying that. Maybe in League 1 and Championship we played some nice football. But look where that got us for a few of the bad seasons.

But it did get us promotion.

League 2 with Tilson was as scrappy as it is now. But there are actually better players in it throughout the teams, just the way football has filtered down players throughout the divisions due to fitter players and more better players.

Tilson's inability to mix things up tactically etc got us relegated aswell as Ron. But yeah boringgggggggggg.

Think you are pretty much on your own with this Dave. Maybe you were a bit too young to remember the football in detail them years?
