Jeremy Corbyn's Labour

BenfleetA1
The silence is suddenly deafening.

Corbyn has voted against his party on >530 occasions but now that he's the leader he wants buy-in from the ranks and his followers are intolerant of those that disobey.

History tells us that when this type of individual gains real power it generally doesn't end well.

Like Tony Blair,you mean? :winking:

(PS. I was at Les Baux earlier).

Am I meant to be shocked that the Labour Party is full of communists?

You're supposed to rejoice in how large the membership is, not whether they are trots, commies or whatever!

There is clearly no real substance to Watson's "revelations." He should be ashamed of himself and stripped of his post.

I have met Tom Watson a couple of times and he is not that fat, and I like him and I voted for him as deputy. I think there is pressure being put on non close Corbyn allies to come out for Smith and to exaggerate the Left influence.

It's bollocks though. Of course there will be SWP types in the Labour Party in the same way there will be UKIP and even BNP types in the Conservative Party. It's not a surprise. But Labour have gone to great lengths to block these people getting in and the amount of people in the SWP is tiny, and Labour membership is well over half a million.

The document that he seems to claim is being passed round is actually allegedly a Progress report on historical Militant activity rather than a current Momentum document. It seems. But is this Tom or media misreporting or deliberately misleading?

This is what happened with Angela Eagle - nearly all of the 'bad' things that happened with a broken window or meetings being forcibly cancelled - none of these things were true. Sure, that's no 'Leave' £350m a week for NHS level of lie but it's still lying to the public.

Tom needs to look to the top of the party - the NEC denying recent members a vote - that is disgraceful and that attempt to fix the vote just pushes more people to vote for Corbyn as a reaction to not wanting to be told what to do. By trying to keep out Corbyn so blatantly the NEC are massively increasing the votes for him. 130,000 that will be allowed to vote due to a court ruling - I can't imagine many of those voting the way the NEC want them to even if that was their original intention.

Tom like most others is being told to pick a side. I don't have a massive problem with that but don't scaremonger and burn bridges as part of that process. And I will be judging MPs on their reaction to the NEC's vote blocking more than anything else.

You are nothing if not predictable. I would suggest that 'UKIP and even BNP types' tend to be members of UKIP or the BNP.

I think what you had done there is miss the point entirely. The discussion is about members of a smaller party looking to join a larger party - and not always being welcome. You see?

Yes I do see. And I would still maintain that 'UKIP and even BNP types' would be members of UKIP or the BNP. I can see that they may vote for one of the larger parties for various reasons but I don't see why they would wish to join the Tories. I think you're clutching at straws here. The Conservative Party is vocally anti-racist (to a nauseating extent under Cameron) whereas the Labour Party under Corbyn is not clearly hostile to communism.

Just because you didn't feel inclined to join the Conservative Party doesn't mean other members of BNP didn't do that very thing. It would make sense in some ways - to be part of a party with a bigger influence.

Do you have any evidence of this phenomenon? Or do you just know it to be true?
Conservatives are expelled if they are found out to be members of the BNP in the same way that SWP members are expelled from Labour. Nick Griffin's Dad was an active Tory but was expelled for assisting his son's BNP activities - that would be the case that would spring to mind.

The point is though, that there will always be members of smaller parties that 'infiltrate' larger parties - but the numbers are relatively tiny but easily exaggerated to paint a certain image.

Interesting. Not pointing a finger here so please don't misconstrue this, but where is the proof that the broken window didn't happen?

So in short, am I right in thinking that a window was smashed, at Eagles constituency office but it's a communal window so that's ok.

Not saying it is, but making it out to be some kind of deliberate intimidation is wrong.

Angela Eagle has obviously been watching House Of Cards.
