Jeremy Corbyn's Labour

In answer to your first point,I presume you change the brands you buy on your supermarket shop fairly regularly? Most people don't.

In answer to your second, get involved at local, branch level and argue for a change of policy.

If,as you say,the chosen candidate is an "arsehead"-see the Chartists solution above.

Not quite sure I understand the first point. Are you equating (say) a choice between Colgate and Aquafresh and choosing a football team, or, indeed, who to vote for in an election?

In terms of the Chartist solution that is laudable, but unless there is actually a formal re-selection process in place, then it isn't much use to someone confronted with the 'arsehead' problem.

I wouldn't be the first to suggest, that (especially in American Presidential elections), candidates have been sold to the public as if they were washing powder,cf. Joe McGinniss's "The selling of a President," about Nixon.

.

Watch this space.JC has promised formal re-selection procedures for all PLP MP's.

So in discussion with Victoria Derbyshire Owen Smith says he would sit down and talk to ISIS. Corbyn completely rejects that. Can you imagine the RW press if that was the other way around?

Totally pointless discussion anyhow. Neither of them will have any influence over events whoever wins the leadership.

I tbink the main question that should be asked of Smith is, exactly who would he speak to and what would be the cost of his definition of peace. Aside from that, he's a bloody idiot and thrown away any credability he may have had before coming out with that rubbish.

Was listening to R2 on the way home, apparently he'd sat on the floor of a train as there were no seats and this was seen by some to be a sign of greatness? Of course, he just happened to have an independent film-maker with him :winking:

Ah but he did refuse to upgrade to first class though.Something I've done before now.

I don't understand the hate or dislike to JC. I went to a JC BAME rally this week and I can't see how anyone can disagree with his policies or what he stands for? Are people scared what equality would like? What opportunities for all no mater wealth or race would look like?

How can can anyone disagree with a man that stands up against the wrongs in life. Racisism, hate, discrimination and tax avoidance

We got a good look at 'what equality would like' under Stalin and Mao. I'm not sure what Corbyn's stance is on 'racisism' but his links with Hamas and Hezbollah are not encouraging.

Ah ...the most common stick used to beat JC. Have a look at what Julia Bard thinks of his "anti-Semitic" links....

I liked and largely agreed with a lot that Foot and Benn (Snr) gave voice to; BUT both would have been awful as PM: JC is the same in many respects while also being an unelectable and thus poor leader of the Opposition.

not really true, since the GE Labour have won mayoral elections which are posts with a big influence on those regions of the country, and the government has been forced to ditch or water down numerous pieces of legislation - so even if your assumption is correct that Labour won't win in 2020 they still influence politics in the meantime

More of a laughing stock than a influence I would say. Carry on spouting on about dead in the water socialist policies whilst the tory party continue to get off scot-free. Even that wet lettuce Farron would be a better option than the Labour party at the moment.

Interesting. Whether he realises it or not, he's following the leadership model of a certain Adolph Hitler. He also gave his deputies overlapping responsibilities. That way they spent a lot of their time arguing and trying to outdo each other. It was a way to exert control over them.

On a less serious note we took the boys to see Horrible Histories. They had a section on Guy Fawkes which was brilliantly done as a "Who Want to be a Millionaire", but renamed "Who Wants to Blow Up Parliament". Guy Fawkes phoned a friend which turned out to be Corduroy "because he's also trying to blow up parliament".

It got the biggest laugh in the whole show, at least from the adults. He really isn't popular.
