Bolton have just beat loads of clubs, including C.Palace and Watford to sign Mo Faal from Enfield. Plays in the style of Jamie Vardy, fast and deadly, especially on the counter attack. Already scored 24 goals this season. Enfield's not too far from here. Knowing Southend, I bet we weren't even aware of him. Boy, could we do with with a striker as good as that with pace to burn.
Goodship had a similar record at that level (75 goals in 81 appearances for Weymouth), it's a always a gamble as to whether goals at the 7th or 8th tier will translate to goals in the league and it will probably take him some time to adjust.

It’s desperate times that 6 days in the only thing we are talking about is whether Theo Robinson will be staying or going to Colchester!
Exactly, short memories for a lot of members if they cannot remember how bad Theo was.

He’s not the answer

Certainly not the way we used him- his strength is when you get the ball forward quickly, and he can get in behind and run the channels. Naturally understanding that we spent all our time whacking up high balls to him to exploit his ineffectiveness in the air, or firing balls into his feet with back to goal to exploit his lack of ball control..

Basically if you're 6'7" we will fire it down the channels for you to chase, if you're 5'2" we will make sure its coming down on your head with ice on... and then it will all be the players fault.

Notwithstanding that I agree Theo back does not help overly as its the one area that probably is OK.

For those that were there at Oxford away a couple of seasons back he came on and was absolute class. There is a decent player in there just don’t think we will ever see him in a Southend shirt. Similar to Hooper (on a smaller scale obviously) played quality everywhere else but here.

Careful, League 1 is a hell of a step up from where Enfield play. Don't forget, Goodship was on fire at that level as well and he hasn't even lit the blue touch paper yet.

For sure. Actually, looking into it more, he's tall and gangly. More like Barry Corr than Jamie Vardy. Must have something about him for Palace and Watford to be interested. As you say, it might not translate to a higher League, and is always a gamble.
Regarding Goodship. He's best as a central striker, and we're not using him there, so not getting the best out of him.

What makes you think that?

Actually he’s better playing from the left. He wasn’t a central target man at Weymouth.

Nope. He played with 10 on his shirt and played inside left, and as centre forward. He said himself that he prefers to play more central. I'm inclined to believe him. He's a natural finisher. I think it's about time we tried him there. He can have Hopper or Humphrys playing along side, but wider instead. What have we got to lose? The forwards aren't on fire at the moment.

True, nothing to lose.

I saw him play centrally in a front 3 in a pre-season game and he struggled big time. Looks much more comfortable playing wide in a 3 and cutting in from the left where he has a bit more space to work with. He's not a centre forward but wants to play in the hole - that can either be between the centre-halves and the midfield or between the centre-half and the right-back. It's similar to the Jack Payne quandry but I'm not seeing a player worth changing formation for to accommodate. Give me Charlie Kelman instead to partner Hopper.

All this talk about strikers , its not strikers we need we got plenty of them its decent centre backs and midfielders, a left back and if possible wingers

Only time we went route one was under CP so then he wasn’t suited in the other games his touch just let him down. He did score a few goals inside the 6 yard box though
