I do like this assumption that some of the players think they're too good for League 2.
it is only a guess form my side, but most footballers tend to think they are better than they actually are. Never been in and around SUFC as a club but having been around and knowing people who work at FFC and it was an eye opener especially players turning down loans to certain divisions

Feel sorry for Theo. Been treated like dirt these last 2 seasons. Why would he want to return?

Not so difficult to understand although a bit odd as I am sure we were told Colchester had the option to extend loan until end of season? Maybe they dont- or maybe option is not on current terms?

From Theo's point of view unless he gets a longer term deal that matches at least what he is on with us, it might be attractive to return to a L1 club - if he can get some games and score a few then it makes a big difference to his next move? L1 strikers who can find the back of the net tend to be in demand- and this might be the best chance of staying in L1/getting a decent deal.

I think he would get a decent deal with someone in L2 in the summer no problem if worst came to the worst.

Sounds like Ron Martin wants Colchester to pay more towards Theo's wages whilst he's playing for them, and by all accounts, he's doing good at Colchester.

He has done well in some games and been non existent in others but that is the case with many players in the lower leagues! I think we would like to sign him outright but maybe Ron with an eye on our cup run income is playing hard ball with the finances!

Yes, I think you have the sense of it, Ron would like a nominal fee, I'd guess at £20k AND is hoping that your lot are looking for some depth of options in the run up to play offs.

With options now probably limited for Sol and Cox now not even on the bench. What if he fancies giving Theo a go himself?

Although what happened to the supposed fact that Col U had the option to keep him to the end of the season? Sure this was also reported by CP?

Maybe Col U are trying to renegotiate that in some way- if that involves less ££ than originally agreed then given Uncles Ron's general attitude to such ideas we can assume he is all but back with us..

Yes it was said we had an option to extend the loan, but maybe we now wish to make the situation a permanent transfer. Both Ron and Robbie have a reputation for hard bargaining, so Theo may end up back at Southend or out on loan elsewhere.

Yes simply put Uncle Ron is the most stubborn man on earth when it comes to these things- so if you are in any way trying to row back on the original agreement the outcome is pretty inevitable.

Given he is a striker with pace, who runs around a lot (if on occasion aimlessly) and who scores goals (certainly at L2 level) I would imagine finding other suitors will be pretty straightforward - assuming Sol doesn't want him back (no doubt he will have had him watched). Anyway I think the loan runs out today so no doubt he is sharing Avocado and Salmon on a toasted Sourdough slice of toast with Sol as we speak.. (Sol has somewhat changed the dietary regime it appears..)

I don't think you can play for 3 clubs in the same season - so it will either be you or us for Theo.

Don't think he has played for us this year? Anyhow we will find out what happening pretty imminently I guess. This is the the least of our problems as you can imagine..

He started against Coventry in the first game of the season, then came on as a sub against Blackpool in the first home game, in the game against Stevenage in the EFL cup and the following league game away at Wycombe.

Yes I think you are right Garry, I hadn't thought of that.

In which case I can almost picture it all now-
Col U naturally know this and so are playing hard ball
Ron know they know it and this will only add to his fury (bat and ball picked up..)
Welcome back Theo..

Probably means one more to go out before another comes in..

Yup, toys flying out of prams all over the place!

Bolton have just beat loads of clubs, including C.Palace and Watford to sign Mo Faal from Enfield. Plays in the style of Jamie Vardy, fast and deadly, especially on the counter attack. Already scored 24 goals this season. Enfield's not too far from here. Knowing Southend, I bet we weren't even aware of him. Boy, could we do with with a striker as good as that with pace to burn.

It’s desperate times that 6 days in the only thing we are talking about is whether Theo Robinson will be staying or going to Colchester!

To be honest we are only on page 25 on a Shrimperzone transfer thread , surely that will be doubled by the time we sign someone??
