I think you're right. But weren't the club playing Spurs behind closed doors today (says he clutching at straws).
That game's tomorrow, he might still be living in Reading though so there's some more straws the clutch.

as I said before, we should have got Holman. Give him a chance and he will get you goals, don't judge unless you have seen him play a few games personally....very strange Colechester got him and loaned him out, then a management change....Isaac Layne from Billericay?
and made to play out wide on the right of midfield when I've seen him come on as sub:sad:Hooper never got a run of games with us, a late sub a lot of the time, unless I'm wrong.

Noel Hunt would be a very very good signing if the financial package was affordable for us. He is an excellent player who scored 3/14 in Championship last season, most of those appearances were not playing as a striker and I would guess a good number came off the bench.
If we could afford him, I'd be very excited about his arrival. Reminds me of Shane Long in the way that he plays and would bring the midfield and any potential strike partner into the game.
The idea that a player who has played most of his career in the Premier League and Championship and is still only 32 would be a better signing for a newly promoted L1 team than some non-league punt is frankly laughable.
I'm not saying we can't sign those type of players, we can and we do, but lets get them in addition to players like Noel Hunt.
Personally I think its very exciting we're looking at players of that calibre in the first place.
So from last 10 years (you said in another post) there are at least 20 names (you said in another post), yet I found:
Eastwood (2nd time)
Barnard (2nd time)
Neil Harris
Dougie Freedman
Shaun Goater
Paul Furlong (did he even play?)
So if you want to be really picky, only 1 was a success - Goater. Now go through every other forward we signed and I'd be fairly sure that the ratio of success to failure would be pretty similar if not worse.
I also believe we will really never know with Barnard as in my opinion he was never really given a chance once he came back from loan at Stevenage,Barnard himself said he was fit and keen and didnt think he was given any sort of extended run to prove himself.I'd disagree with that really, Freedman looked an excellent signing until he got injured in the Autumn and then was allowed to come back too soon. That mistake effectively ended his career. Even Freddy in the early months of his return looked good, another that won the (pointless according to Pubey) Player of the Month award early on. When you play older players you run a higher risk of injuries causing problems, Goater was lucky in that he managed to escape fairly lightly.
Jemal Johnson and who could forget "one cap wonder" Michael RickettsOf course, keep moving those goalposts.

Noel Hunt would be an excellent signing for a club like SUFC.and it would show you supporters that RM and PB were very serious about not just maintaining DIV1 status but challenging for promotion.
Colchester found out what most of us already knew. Holman is a decent enough Conference support striker but isn't up to League standard. Not at this stage anyway. Hence why he was shipped back off to the Conference on loan. As you say, odd signing for the Ewes.

Totally agree. Barney said himself he wasn't fit at the beginning. I still saw enough early doors to prefer him to Corr who was misfiring spectacularly at the start of the season.
I think he is a lot better than that.
