Immigration

How Europe manages the entry of refugees, and for that matter economic immigrants, is now a major issue for all the Governments involved, including the UK. Shutting our borders to all of them seems to be a favoured response from some posters on here, which is an option. Drip feed entry of some heavily vetted refugees is another and then at the other end of the spectrum is the open door approach. The latest controls introduced by some of our European neighbours, such as confiscation or extending the time before other family members can join feels like another sticky plaster response to me. But I don't really have a clue now what should happen next.

Is it now time to arbitrarily intervene in the countries that are at the root of the refugee exodus? I'm not a great advocate of that course of action, but I just don't see diplomatic action achieving much. By intervention, I mean doing it under the banner of the UN with a unified front from all those countries and alliances that are currently involved.

It's the same old story, give somebody an inch they will take a mile!

The great and good are a highly educated breed, they know far more than us mere mortals, they make laws for us but rarely applies to them.

The influx just grows and grows and none of the leaders in this mad PC world have a clue what to do,even the average village idiot could foretell this mess.

Spanish ones couldn't:winking:

Cammy had a poor choice of words for sure.
Interestingly JC, et al, didn't stump up any figures or facts for those at Calais and Dunkirk; can it be because the reality is that the majority aren't from Syria, Iraq, Afghan (war zones) but economic migrants from Pakistan, Nigeria, etc?

Probably true too !

However those at Calias and elsewhere whatever their faith/creed they all have found sanctuary in France,I'm still amazed the French still allow them to cause havoc and mayhem .

Christ things must be bad for Labour this really is clutching at straws.

Didn't say anything I don't agree with - I don't see what a illegal camp in France has got to do with Holocaust day either.
If these people are in genuine need then why didn't they claim asylum in the first port they arrived in? This is our country and these are our borders, you can't just come in and break the law in the process.
I fully agree with Cameron on this and so do most people.

There is no connection between the holocaust and what is happening in Denmark.
This is just a squalid attempt by labour, to deflect criticism away from Corbyns latest nonsense.
I am surprised that they (labour) have stooped this low to try and make political capital out of human tragedy...
I attended an event this evening to commemorate the holocaust, and spoke with an elderly lady who had been in a concentration camp, she was absolutely horrified by the comments made by labour, and also by papers like the guardian who have tried to liken the treatment of the Jews with modern day migrants.

The Jews never had any choice whilst the migrants have !

Labour are such a shambolic entity it's almost funny, they whinge and whine yet never have any answer apart from throw money at the problem, they are mad.

Could have posted this in any one of three currently live threads but this one seems the most appropriate.

So Sweden are preparing to repatriate/expel/boot out/send back (use whatever terminology your political leaning dictates) anything up to 80,000 migrants who's applications for asylum have failed.

The first REAL indication that the past and current rate of migration by individuals throughout Europe is unsustainable and unworkable and also that clearly the Schengen agreement doesn't work in it's current form and this must then beg the question, first Sweden, who will be next?

I'd be interested to know the thoughts on this by those that are, and continue to be, in favor of a one size fits all open door migration policy throughout Europe (economic migrant and political refugees included)

Just for TUIB ;)

Madness !

Labour are now trying another angle by focusing on "orphaned children".

Miss Cooper when pressed was asked if the child came here then suddenly the parents miraculously reappeared did she think they should be allowed in,she if course swerved the question,

Fair play to Frank Field though,he warned of parents suddenly reappearing.
