Immigration

There is history with the use of certain references to colour. Maybe he is hiding more than his tax affairs.

Many UK guvs have had sound ideas on immigration but then lacked the ability and will to implement their sound bites. The EU "freedoms" is a large aspect of the "do nothing" policy, as is fear of being labelled racist. History of British migration and its benefits also play a part with worry that a "tit for tat" from other countries could be a bad result.
Sense for me would be the banning of, and rapid deportation of villains, fellons and crooks (including the very wealthy ones!).
No access to free health/education type services unless 3 years of NI has been paid.
No automatic entry to extended family.
Strict quota of refugees/aslyum seekers which will only be taken from camps/embassies off UK shore - (not smuggled in).
UK language/life style/society test to be taken after 12/24/36 months and passed before "leave to remain" is granted.
Tougher sentences for those making/aiding the commercial fraud with abuse of work/student visas.

Any good ideas there people?

As far as I'm concerned anyone who is anti-imm¡gration is,ipso facto, a racist.

Dunno whether that makes me a half-wit or not but it's what I believe.

Your idea of racist is from the old left wing slant, people are far more sophisticated today, worrying about all manner of overcrowding.

Why did you move to Spain

Perhaps it's time for you to be more open minded?

I'm anti EU it doesn't make me anti European, in the same way that someone who may or may not want to control or even discuss immigration is a racist.

I think the issue is clouded by the vast majority of those who are anti immigration, appearing to also be anti immigrant (which is racist) . No problems in discussing immigration, but as soon as phrases such "those people" start to bring it down to a human level, it starts getting into dubious territory.

My other half's daughter created and was the lead singer in this band. I know my views on immigration mean in your eyes i'm racist, but please leave family out of it.

People like you are looking for any phrase that doesn't suit your agenda, how on earth the term "those" can be pigeon holed Into any racist bracket is way beyond me.

I'm for controlled immigration so I must be racist. Hey ho but I've never used the term, coloured......or fiddled the tax man now I come to think of it. Oh well, racist it is.

Equally it's a popular tactic by many on the left as a way of shutting down debate....I'm against the Eu's free movement of people based on the damage it has done to communities, wages and over burdened services....does that me a racist?
I see the sense in bringing in people to fill in the skill gaps we do have, I'm in favour of providing refuge to those fleeing conflict....doesn't make me a leftie though does it?

As the Lyrics to the song go like this;

Take a pinch of white man
Wrap him up in black skin
Add a touch of blue blood
And a little bitty bit of Red Indian boy

Curly Latin kinkies
Mixed with yellow Chinkees
If you lump it all together
Well, you got a recipe for a get along scene
Oh, what a beautiful dream
If it could only come true, you know, you know

What we need is a great big melting pot
Big enough to take the world and all it’s got
And keep it stirring for a hundred years or more
And turn out coffee colored people by the score

I can only guess you were being iron!ic[/QUOTE]

Not really. It's a song of it's time ie the 60's.Well before the PC brigade got going.

What is the difference between the extreme right and the extreme left. One group dismiss millions of people no matter what they have achieved or can offer because of their different beliefs. They use insulting terms to describe the millions, whilst reminding everyone why they are so superior to that group.

The think its outrageous if people they despise have even one MP to represent them.
They think its ok for an employer especially in the public sector to openly discriminate against them.
Because they are so narrow minded and will only mix with people who think like them, they delude themselves into thinking they have far more support than they do.
They will celebrate the death of a political rival.

See its easy to spot the differance

Good work !

Take this thread, one chap has painted every poster on the thread racist then uploads a divi silly song from yesteryear, another poster then wades in stating the word "those" must never be used.

How can you have any sensible debate!

Because its personalising the issue , thus the issue moves from the concept to the person, and his race.

Nothing to do with suiting an agenda in the slightest

Grow up, learn to read a post properly and then try to quote it correctly too.

No one said the word "those" cannot be used .

If you can't understand what is being said in a post , question it by all means , but don't make yourself look an idiot by misunderstanding and then screaming off at a tangent...

Sorry, the difference between what ? , you have only put a "description" of one side there and I don't know which one you are describing.
