So if it does get paid, players, staff and suppliers get paid. Transfer embargo gone. I wonder if there will be any transfer movement. A striker and a keeper would be super helpful so we can compete with notts in the playoffs.
If the embargo gets removed next week, we’ve got about 3 weeks to get players in before the window shuts. I have no doubt the football dept already have a list of targets, but whether we can bring targets in remains to be seen. Given the mess we are in financially, is it wise?

I think we need to move a few on before we can bring any in

One thing that confuses me is why we have delayed paying, when Scunthorpe were taken over the new owners cleared the HMRC debt immediately and the transfer embargo was lifted as soon as the HMRC confirmed payment.
This.

This is why I’m not as optimistic as others, despite the various rumours.

Surely if a nice big sum came in which could clear HMRC and wages, you’d clear it all same day and shout from the rooftops. I’d probably (and naively I guess) even share a screenshot of the payment confirmation on the press release, just to nip all rumours in the bud.

Let’s just hope that if money has been received, that it is the full amount and that the creditors are paid well in time.

But you're talking about RM and yet applying logic, common sense and common decency.

The embargo will only be removed once paid in full, correct?

Assuming the embargo is only related to the tax bill, then yes. But it could also include wages etc. So I think we will need to see the tax bill fully paid along with playing staff at least, before there’s any chance of the embargo being removed.

I’m not fussed personally. Yes of course it would be nice to get a few in to give us a bit of a boost. But I think we need to cut our cloth accordingly and go with what we have for the remainder of the season. If we fall short, we fall short.

We have to get all staff paid and all bills paid first before we even contemplate transfers IMO.

What with all the dribble that have been posted on hear .Even if payed in full so many players wont out .Some hw seeing the way thoes players were bounceing in the dressing room after the match .Get then paid in full and you will see the players push on towards the playoffs .

Towards the play offs? We're in the mix already.

It the monies are there don’t forget it’s a loan, it has to be payed back plus interest,
I hear the amount supposedly scheduled to be received some time around june is very substantial and paying off accrued loans Inc interest shouldn't be a problem.
As we know, things get delayed, detailed etc.... But as it stands, things are looking up. May as well enjoy it before the next crisis !

Hopefully tomorrow will confirm what sounds like solid rumour. None of this financial nonsense has been any good for the Club, the players or the staff but lets hope that tomorrow starts the beginning of a better time for Southend Utd. It may well be that we are in the same position in 6 months time, or maybe we won't. For now, cash willing, we can concentrate on holding on to a play-off spot, delivering some masterful performances on the pitch and supporting our team as we batter our way out of this wonderful league. Too much sack cloth and ashes isn't good for anyone, so hopefully time to lighten up and enjoy the team.

People do seem to be suggesting “the more borrowing and has to be paid back piece” and 'more trouble again in 6 months" as if funds from the development didn’t exist…. we do need a detailed statement about current and future funding so we can avoid Groundhog Day on here….we need and deserve to get back to focussing in the football with finances back in the finance section. But that requires some transparency…

I hope its all true The Zone is running out of ink on this subject.

Find people obsessed with being out of an embargo the weirdest thing. Realistically who do you bring in to this team without potentially affecting morale. Maybe a goalkeeper but even then both colin and steeeeeve are back very soon so would be very short term. Hopefully this is the last time we have to play HMRC as the rivalry has gone on too long. Hopefully now we can get this planning permission sorted and get promotion this season. Can’t wait for Friday night if the rumours are true.
