Find people obsessed with being out of an embargo the weirdest thing. Realistically who do you bring in to this team without potentially affecting morale. Maybe a goalkeeper but even then both colin and steeeeeve are back very soon so would be very short term. Hopefully this is the last time we have to play HMRC as the rivalry has gone on too long. Hopefully now we can get this planning permission sorted and get promotion this season. Can’t wait for Friday night if the rumours are true.
We need depth, 14 games to come in March and April with injuries to key players already, we will lose more with the heavy schedule and will be desperate to bring in good cover rather than have to rely on youth or players that aren't up to it.

If the embargo is lifted we could definitely do with a striker, given 3 out of our 5 senior strikers are currently injured.

We don’t have to be reckless and break the bank, a loan until the end of the season will do. It would be nice to have some cover if we get to the play offs.

I have to agree about the embargo obsession. During the many times we have been hit with that sanction we have never been the only club under restriction. Fellow sufferers are sometimes in the Championship and have (seemingly at least) a much healthier financial profile than we have.
Being embargoed is by no means unusual and is a consequence of the weird state of football finances. It can even happen in clubs where the initials of the owner are not RM!
None of the above is meant to suggest that an embargo is an acceptable state of affairs. However, it could be argued that it is an occupational hazard for any football club whose finances are less than rock solid ie the majority of clubs in the EFL as well as the Championship.
It happened before and we survived. Even we escape our present predicament it may well happen again in the future. Undesirable? For sure. The end of the world? Usually not.

We do have depth, but not for our key players like Cardwell. I would imagine that even if the embargo is lifted, we can't overspend as finances will remain very tight. Any incomings would need to be matched by outgoings. Our season will almost be defined by the next few games against our play off rivals, not much time left even though the targets will have been identified.

One thing that confuses me is why we have delayed paying, when Scunthorpe were taken over the new owners cleared the HMRC debt immediately and the transfer embargo was lifted as soon as the HMRC confirmed payment.
I suspect part of the reason may be because our squad is effectively full and we don't have the budget to bring anyone in. Given that there is no need to pay early. Scunthorpe needed pretty much a new squad ASAP.

I think we leave that to KM and he certainly wants to bring in a goalkeeper

Ok lets put some meat on the bones .Right if the story of all the HMRC is settled .Then i guess the players would be payed and most if not all the staff .So on to new faces the loan market is a must to share the burden of new wages that we can not afford at present

Hopefully, this reset button loan (in the interim) will flatten us out a bit and our gates coming into a play-off battle will enable us to reinvest ensuring we pay wages and have a buffer for the summer (maybe not!)

If we still have a club Wednesday, going to get my Barnet tickets BUT told my son that he can't have a McDonald's but make do with a West Stand hotdog as my £ is best used with the club rather than the McDonald's franchise!!! Poor lad

With the caveat that the embargo will be lifted (which I am not at all sure it will be), a couple of loans would be a sensible thing to do. Barnet, Woking and Chesterfield have all strengthened their squads in recent weeks, which is what teams normally do if they find themselves going into business end of the season with a real chance.

I would not advocate breaking the bank, but neither would I advocate reducing our chances of promotion and the subsequent extra financial security by playing the last quarter of the season with a depleted squad.

We are already an anomaly in this league that we have only two loan players at the club. Most have five or six. I don't think one or two additional bodies would disrupt team spirit, what would disrupt it more is failing to strengthen a squad when we had the opportunity, and allowing the side to slip down the table.

EDIT: Just seen Dan's post about not cluttering up the thread with transfer talk. Sorry...

I've seen more meat on a butcher's apron :-)

Ron Martin will as always pay the bare minimum for us to scrape by but of course find ourselves in a similar position 12 months down the line.

We have to keep this pressure on with the media, MPs and fans groups otherwise we won't have much left of a club when he goes sailing into the sunshine.

I have a question for those ITK around the talk of bonuses to be paid players as a "thank you". Are these rumours true, because while I would absolutely support the idea that the players deserve bonuses, I was under the impression that bonuses can only be paid to players if already stipulated in their contracts lodged with the league?

Dont think the bare mininimum wont be enough HMRC seemes to want the lot As do the players and staff do you blame them .If i was Ron i would leave the payments to Tom As ceo that should be his remit .And he is a dam site better with the clubs finaces that ron is .
