What payment for what work is this you are talking about then If its the new training ground your suggesting .ITS ALLREADY PAID FOR .
Tommy sometimes I wonder how you are really reading things, you've brought an entity into the conversation that had no relevance.

Believe me, I've turned the air blue when talking about him privately. Thought it was better to be more measured for something like this.

When they told us it had been uploaded and published, they said it was after several back-and-forths with their lawyers. I noticed they cut out a bit where I suggested he was cash poor and asset wealthy (ish), that the money he'd put into the club perhaps wasn't his own personal wealth but probably loans secured against some of his land and developments, and that perhaps the abilty/room for manoeuvre to loan against his assets had dried up.

I guess they thought that bit was potentially litigious which is fair enough. But staying calm meant that was the only bit they cut. They said it'd be 5 mins but spoke to me for 12 mins and published 10 mins, so I'm taking that as a win!
I listened to it. I thought you did well, chose your words carefully, didn't freeze (lots of people do) and got a lot of good points across. Even more important, you came across as balanced in your views and not merely critical for the sake if it.

If he he spent cash fixing Roots Hall up our time would have been up probably sometime in Covid. As it is poor maintenance has probably allowed him to pay wages when otherwise he might have not had the cash.

Absolutely agree with this. Unfortunately the failure to vacate RH and move in to a new stadium over the last 10-15 years has led to the position where we are today (together with mis-management). Any money pumped into RH other than the minimum H&S requirements is ultimately a waste.

As usual......absolute hot garbage.

Nothing we've never heard before, nothing to reassure, and more deflection and passing of blame.

If he's not going to truthfully and openly answer the actual questions that people want answered then why bother?

I was worried about you before, but even more so after that. A few points :

1. I'm confused by the way he switches between blaming COVID (where he may have a point, of sorts, though it was the same for everyone) and the financial implications of successive relegations (talked about as though they were accidents that had nothing to do with him).

2. I've never heard so many caveats read out in such a short space of time. He's either preparing you all for bad news, or trying to create wriggle room that would shame the average limbo dancer.

3. It sounds very much as though he will need some flexibility from HMRC, if the timing doesn't work. So why start off by accusing them of collapsing the most recent arrangements? More generally, why keep going to the brink time after time and use up all your good will with them?

4. As the reporter said, 1 March is the point everyone is fixed on. But a big bridging loan secured - presumably - at very stiff rates of interest sounds like a very high risk strategy to me, especially if you don't go up. Which is a polite way of saying the approach seems to be to quit the frying pan and head to the nearest fire.

I'd love to know where the National League are in all this. They can't be happy with the spectacle of someone playing Russian roulette with a community's hopes and dreams.

"Martin said their "legacy debt" was made up entirely of PAYE for player wages when they were in League One and League Two."

So is he saying we're completely up to date with VAT, PAYE, Employers NI etc for the past 18 months? Or is there a legacy debt and a current debt?

"Southend United chairman Ron Martin says finding the money to clear debts owed to HM Revenue & Customs by the start of next month "will be close" but he "will not let the club be wound-up"."

So is it administration - or he pays up? How far ahead of the 1 March would he need to apply for administration - is it literally the day before, or the morning of the hearing?

Hearing that some staff have been told by email that they should start looking for alternative employment as they can not guarantee work after 18th February. Not looking positive if these sorts of messages are being sent to match day staff.
I presume you've heard that from one of the staff who got the e-mail?.

The clue is in the name Ron, if you had paid it when it was earnt SUFC wouldn’t be in the mess it is now

There’s always these rumours though. Most turn out false.
