Nope. There's one reason that AB isnt playing

Indeed and a quick look at the results since Ferdinand and Thompson started playing well is the reason.

AB has been a great player for the club but is coming to the end of his career and Ferdinand and Thompson are simply better players at this time and more importantly play together well.

You like to make out that Brown cannot manage people and when someone is not picked it is simply because Brown has fallen out with them.

Given the performances and results since Ferdinand and Thompson have started playing together would you therefore consider it good management to drop one of them in place of Barrett. Do you think that would be good for team morale? Do you think that would send the right message to younger players like Thompson?

These are the three links to articles in the Echo. The question is do you believe what Brown says.

Brown also revealed he had been encouraged by meetings he had held with the senior players this week

Barratt was probably MOM more than any other player before he was dropped and Brown always extolled Barratt's virtues of giving all and putting his body on the line for the team. Leaving him out it was probably the right thing to do as having Barratt and Ferdinand together was a disaster and something had to change. All that anyone wants to know is what is actually going on. Clearly Ranger has made a big difference. Barratt is still club captain - according to the programme and did play against Stevenage.

I suspect there is damage limitation going on as Brown will have been hacked off by Barratt's conversation with the Echo and Brown could not have risked alienating supporters by slagging off Barratt publically. I guess gardening leave is what you call it. In hindsight was Adam really worth another year's contract and should he have been made captain?

However, someone in the club needs to make a statement about what is actually going on to quash all the speculation.

Something is clearly not right, but one thing confuses me.

If, supposedly, AB and PB have fallen out, why did AB play at Stevenage?

Being made to play in that Checkatrade dead match seems more punishment than reward !

That clearly, categorically, 100% isn't true. Even if there was a huge argument and Brown has said that he'll not play again (other than, you know, that game that he picked him for) there are several other reasons why Barrett isn't in the team right now. The first two of which being the form of Anton Ferdinand and Adam Thompson.

Or do you believe that Barrett would have played 180 minutes this last week had he not fallen out with the manager?

Exactly this.

Moaning, I just point things out, you said results had picked up since Adam had not played, I stated is that because of Ranger. I think Thompson is a very good player indeed, he had that surgery, and is getting better and better.

I understand you are a high flyer, so Boots and laces may be a no no.

I used to cycle all the time as a youngster from Canvey to Boots and Laces to watch training, but when I grew up the world decided that I needed a job to pay for my way. If you think me having a full time job is high flying, thank you, my Mummy and Daddy will be so proud

Fair old trip on a bike from "The Island" A Leigh man now, so flying high.

I think Barrett should be considered for a coaching role. He just hasn't got the pace anymore and should retire gracefully. He has nothing to prove on the pitch anymore.

Barrett was a good player and is a decent guy, but for whatever reason he has dropped down the pecking order, its football and it happens, he is not the first player to be upset at not getting game time and he won't be the last.

What Brown seems to be doing correctly is focusing on is the 14 players that are playing and performing well, Barrett will simply have to bide his time and earn his way back into the side , like it or not PB is the manager and he picks the side

I have been told he is packed in ice somewhere, and they are doing a Captain America type thing on him...

Can I ask how long you have supported this club.... When I say that I mean understood football as and adult, and your age? That's an immoral way to talk about Adam Barrett.

Seriously you're questioning my support, this coming from someone that clearly doesn't just support Southend by continuing to slag off the team, manager and fans!!

I've supported this club, home and away for nearly 30 years and understand football quite well thank you.

And what was so immoral with that comment; it's an opinion, just because I don't agree with you, don't start making things personal

Maybe a club spokesman needs to make a statement every time someone is dropped?

The trouble is we wouldn't get the real reason. The club are gutless and PB is a bully. Everyone can give reasons as to why Barrett isn't playing but it will never come out. Feel really sorry for Barrett. He was the mouthpiece of the discontent of the players yet he bears the brunt of PB's wrath. Had Barrett not spoken up, we would still be getting tonked week in, week out, playing the managers negative tactics in a formation the players don't want to play. I applaud you Barrett

I am not a PB fan but I choose to question/criticise him on what I can see. Namely managing. Where is the evidence to support your view that he is a bully? Furthermore, where is the evidence that Barrett has been punished for speaking up? It will take a lot for me to be a PB convert but that is purely down to a difference of opinion on the footballing front. Character assassination, unless factual and provable, is less than he or any manager deserves.

Get over it ! He. Currently. Is. Not. Good. Enough. !!

PB is a bully ... oh boo hoo ! He is a manager to take decisions for the best of the team , as I've asked elsewhere , would you still be picking AB for sentimental reason above Thommo and Ferdinand ? If so , I fail to understand how you can dig a manager out ! You make it seem that PB is the only manager to ever make a decision like this , all managers have and have to. Fergie did it time after time. How you can continue to complain after the current run is beyond me. If AB is the legend of Southend you all say he is, do you reckon that he himself will have no arguments regarding the turn around in form since the changes that were imposed because of the players input ( I believe that correct as its factual from all and sundry on here ) !

Also, I may be wrong, but I think OBL was probably being sarcastic !

DaveWebbs(no)Brain is completely wrong, PB got most of his keys players like Wordsworth & Ranger fit & firing! I have seen Adam Barrett play 4 time & lost 3! 3 of the defeats was by a hammering, if I was honest, AB was awful in these 4 games I have seen, including a 4-0 defeat by Northampton!

The 5 games I have seen us play without Barrett since October, we look tighter at the back, creative in midfields & look a real threat going forward & playing with a freedom without worries about the back 4. A totally different side, has we played this team in Augs & Sept, we would have lost twice by a narrow scoreline & gained extra 8/10 more points by now.

I don't care who is in the team, long as the club come first, that what PB is doing, putting the team & SUFC first above any players.

Pull what I say apart by all means but leave out the snide abuse
