Ah but what if there's another referendum on the terms or even a future referendum to re-apply for membership? :winking:

According to todays Independent, 10 per cent of remain voters would now vote leave as opposed to 3 per cent of leave voters who would vote the other way.

My own personal fears that my Stocks shares + pensions would take a hit hasn't materialised, I wonder if 9 months after voting to leave how many have been materially affected by Brexit.

Anecdotally, I have noticed that local employment agencies (Wisbech area) are now advertising jobs in English and hiring locally, other than that I can't say I have noticed much change but in fairness we are in the infancy of Brexit and have a long way to go.

The business that her Ladyship runs, I have a financial interest, has had its best year up until April. We are just taking on more staff, British of course and that means she wont have to work anymore weekends by the end of the year.

We were also told that property prices would crash if we voted Brexit. Pleased to report that was another total lie.

From the people who didn't vote I have found that far more are likely to vote Brexit if we had another referendum because as per normal there is a huge silent majority amongst them. Instead we get to hear the whinges of a few lazy students

In terms of house prices, from what I've seen locally they are still on the increase here in the Fens, I think most of this is fuelled by people moving into the area from inside of the UK at the top of market...and eastern european immigration at the bottom.

From a business point of view, whilst my main job is in the public sector, I have two vineyards that are set to have their first crops this year, and there has been a lot of interest from UK wine makers in buying the crop ....although we haven't entered into an agreement with anyone yet.

That's different, are they in England ?

Yes, both are here in the UK....although English wines are taking off, especially the whites.

At present we have 3 acres planted with black grapes (you can get a 1000 vines in acre) and are planting a further 4 acres this year..leaving 3 to do next year.

Typically an acre should be capable of producing 1500 bottles of wine if the yield is reasonable...

Good stuff....Hope your not relying on an EU subsidy.

Where in the UK are they?

Ha ha no although at some point a decision has to be made on where to go with this...as I only started out with 1/2 an acre!

Both vine yards are just outside a small village (where I live) called Tydd st giles, which is in Cambridgeshire but you can throw a stone into both Norfolk and Lincolnshire from there.

How do you harvest the vines.

By Hand, I know I read recently on here (possibly by MK) that a lot of farming is now mechanized which is certainly true with under ground crops, however over ground still has a heavy reliance on manual labour.

To bring this back to Brexit, at present the manual labour is mostly performed by overseas workers, historically it was done by students and locals but due to the fact overseas workers will take less pay and are beholden to what I would consider unfair conditions of employment... this is no longer the case.

The fault lies mainly with unscrupulous employment agencies, who insist that workers take out accommodation with them and also use their transport systems...the costs are deducted directly from wages.

Anecdotally,I know one EFL Teacher, (a former colleague at the UAB and a fellow Cambridge Speaking Examiner for the British Council), who is currently applying for Spanish citizenship.Ironically,he comes from the city UKIP were calling "the Brexit capital of the UK" ie Stoke.

More good news, another remoaner wants to leave

What's it got to do with brexit?

You don't think guaranteed residency status has anything to do wth Brexit.:stunned:

Actually,he's a highly skilled, experienced and well qualified EFL professional, who speaks much better Catalan and Spanish than I ever will.No country, especially not the UK, can afford to be losing people of his calibre.

No...I don't equate the inability of someone who can't complete a form correctly with Brexit....perhaps you can explain why we don't have to fill forms in properly post the referendum?

If it stops convicted murderers being allowed into Britain then it is absolutely worth it. Like the one who slit a young girls throat in Holland and after his release made his way here and then battered another woman within 3 weeks of arriving. She survived but her life is ruined.
