Game of Thrones

you should mate. watch the first series and then let me know what you think. GOT was alright, but best ever?! no way. Sopranos and West Wing are easily better.

Totally different though arent they.

Like saying the News at10 is better than Blue Peter. (which it isnt as you dont get elephants ******** on the floor on the News at Ten)

Big fan of Game of Thrones, it was a fairly slow start, but then the books arent exactly fast paced action packed. Most of the battles in the books happen "off screen" and you hear about them after.

Whilst I know how his book ends I have to say they have all blended into one another now so I cant quite remember the events and when the occur. Like Ned Starks death there are plenty of unexpected events throughout the books, I cant remember which ones occur in this series though.

Not really, they're all TV dramas and while different in their subject, themes and style, I don't see why you can't compare them reasonably objectively. To be honest though, I know deep down I'm not hugely into fantasy, and perhaps they biases my views on GOT a little, but I'll stick with it and see what the second series is like.

I enjoy Suits and 24. I would never watch Downtown Abbey, Sex and the City or Glee.

All may be classed as TV Dramas yet totally different :)

You can certainly say you like one or the other of course, but a direct comparison is difficult.

GOT being fantasy is as much removed from The Wire as Glee is to 24. You will get plenty who like either but also plenty who wont watch GOT because they dont like the genre, same as lots of people (lets call them ignorant heathen fools) who dont like Lord of the Rings.

What GOT has over pretty much everything else is that its different. Its fantasy but not actually based that much on fantasy, more political and character based.

Based on the books I do wonder if it will continue to work beyond series 3 though, the books do seem to start to ramble on a bit a lose their way in the last couple.

Thats the beauty of GOT. Characters generally (with one or two exceptions) arent good or bad.

Tyrion is a great character, kind of the common sense in teh Lannisters. He is a lannister but also due to his size an outsider.

Other characters also surprise you as it goes on, although without giving anything away I think its safe to say Joffrey is one of those that is just evil. How punchable is that guy....

Joffrey is a proper **** who i reckon will get a proper slap from someone (Or is that just wishful thinking)

I would say that even Joffrey has his reasons, he has been raised by Cersie to be a tyrant and even she is losing control of him. Also the realisation of the truth he had last episode is probably not affecting him well.
In terms of production it is incredibly made, the use of sound is fantastic and the casting is terrific.

Given up with it to be honest, don't care for any of the characters, the story is meandering and the porn is just getting ridiculous now! If it didn't have such a fanboy following it'd be a late night C5 programme.

Oh Pubes. It's brilliantly acted, the story is epic. The nudity was OTT on monday agreed but this is the finest bit of telly to ever hit our screens - and that's ignoring the fact it's a fantasy story.

Read the books and you will enjoy it more

Theres too much going on to really keep on top of the TV shows.

The characters dont get long enough and there are far too many of them to get the most out of the TV shows on their own.

Little bit slow last night I thought (directed by Gay Pride?)- but definitely picked up at the end. Tyrion & Arya definitely steal the show.

Almost exactly how I called it. Just seems to be taking a little while for everything to get going but once it does...

Loving the series now gettting into to it, so much so I swore when the credits came up at the end I was so disappointed it ended.

Id again recommend reading the books, the TV shows really only scratch the surface. I dont remember the offer from Margaery to have a 3-some with her brother though. Think that should definitely be explored further. An incestuous spit roast with a couple of nancy boys isnt something you see on TV enough in my opinion.
