He cant be that unfit as he has still been training with coventry and has no injury problems. methinks coventry fans just wanted him out. Also someone on here said it may be a financial issue. They are probably near the truth. It sure has beefed up our fans enthusiasm.

What are the chances of signing Freddy full time? ( I know I've said this before but it was on wrong thread)

Having read 'most' of the posts on this thread , I agree that the signing is great in terms of morale , bums on seats , potential goals etc , so in that respect it's a 'no brainer'.
The fitness issue is obviously something we will have to wait and see , and if he is unfit / or un-match fit , then 8 ( or 11 ) games does not give him a great deal of time.
Please don't forget that with 4 away games still to go , we have already scored more league goals than any previous Southend side away from home , so credit must be given to those guys.
If Freddy comes in and scores a hat full , that is great , but don't just forget the previous 19 away games...........

Guess see how this goes. Think he is out of contract in the summer and someone on the Cov board said they had cancelled his contract so he could join us...

If we go up (and he does ok this season), I reckon we will sign him.

Signing Freddy on loan?

Crazy, ludicrous, desperate, madness, ridiculous..etc, etc, etc.

But don't it make you feel good???? YES!!!

PS. Not sure it would actually have been a PS decision? Seems the last kind of player Luggy would sign, especially as fitness was the reason he declined to sign Vine for the run-in!!!????

C'MON YOU SHRIMPERS!!

I'm sure Luggy isn't blind to know what Freddy means to the club. 2nd/3rd best player of modern times behind Stanley and Chrissy Powell.

Or was the reason we declined Vine because THIS was in the pipeline!?

Glad he's here but lets not go overboard in the adulation. Lets see how he does and let him get on with things with space and in a quiet manner. Maybe the best way to handle the heavy burden of expectation on his shoulders. Also his arrival will put another pressure on the team because of the expectancy. Hope it all pans out but getting overly carried away we'll see many people crashing down to earth with a huge bump if a\ Fred is as much as unlucky with form and b| We don't go up.

If it works out on the pitch and we want to sign him, I reckon its doable. Yes he'll have to accept a lot less money but if he's been sensible with his (I'm guessing here) £10k-ish per week at Wolves & Coventry he's already a very wealthy young man, and who else is going to sign him on a big salary now anyway? He's a home-bird, his family are still in Essex as far as I'm aware and the travelling community like to keep family close. Probably partly why it hasn't worked for him in the midlands. This is his spiritual home & I'm sure he'd rather be happy and playing where he's loved on £1.5k per week (another guess) than miserable on a lot more, away from friends & family, not getting a kick..

Just heard that Freddy is late for training - he was given permission to finish his "Gut Buster" breakfast!! We like a big, powerful frontman!!

Come on FREDDY!!

Purely to relieve a bit of the pressure/expectation:

http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/15591-Eastwood-returns-to-Southend...

For those (like myself) who believe that Freddy can and will do a job at this level:

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/co...itness-despite-reserves-brace-92746-30099803/

Freddy knows where the net is, he is a confidence player who will be given more time here to find his fitness. If he can score against Bulgaria and Man Utd when fit.... he can score against the likes of Barnet and Macclesfield!!

This is a fantastic day for Southend Utd, the gates will be up, the feel good factor will be back, this is exactly the news we need for a realistic promotion push.

I’m off to the bookies tomorrow to put a ton on us winning the playoffs, hopefully Alder**** go on a decent run and scrape 7th (we finish 5th) and meet them in the playoff final. Freddy tears them apart and bags a hatrick.... it will be the stuff dreams are made of!!

love the fact that they all assume that we are paying all of his wages

So a day later. I've finally masnaged to calm down, and think think about it in the cold light of day. And well; I still just can't put into words how happy I am....he's home he's finally home.

I am sooooo excited, I haven't stopped smiling all morning and telling everybody in the office who really don't give a damn, but hey, who cares!!!!!!

Wish there was a game tonight and tomorrow

I loved your facebook message last night. How many beers?

The hype at this stage because of the NAME is phenomenal. Again lets see how he does. Granted he may well work wonders but lets see if he proves this. Nothing like over the to extra pressure or expectation. I genuinly want it to work out but am keeping my feet on the floor. For if it doesn't pan out my bump from crashing down to earth won't be as sore as those who are becoming complacent.
