If Freddy reads all this about him and the weight of expectation on his shoulders already, he will be cacking his pants
No, I don't think so. Freddy's heritage is a proud race and I'm sure he will fully embrace the challenge. Seriously can't wait till next Friday to hear the whole of the ground chanting in unison...

A massive part of me growing up going to roots hall, put a massive smile on my face regardless - very exciting to just see him on the pitch again!

was the last time fredy played for us at Bristol when he got that hat trick on his birthday at Ashton gate?

Yes, the last time time Freddy played in Bristol for us was that birthday hat-trick game. Since that and the other memorable Bristol City game in our League One winning season, he has played five more matches against Bristol City and hasn't won any of them, including two draws and one defeat in Bristol. The last time he played in the city was just over two years ago. The next game he played was a home game under floodlights, and he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win....

He has only ever played against Bristol Rovers in Southend colours and has never lost to them. He has, however, never played at the Memorial Ground.

In my opinion already some of the feel good factor of his original time here already seems to be noticeable on here. Even now I don't think people have the same love for a lot of our players like they did Freddy, Gower, Barrett ect. I really do think this signing will help bring people back to the Hall and restore some of that love for the team.

Whatever he does (or doesn't do) he will always be a fan's favourite. Here's to a blistering end to the season. Welcome HOME Freddy.:smile: :Worthy:

Purely to relieve a bit of the pressure/expectation:

For those (like myself) who believe that Freddy can and will do a job at this level:

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/co...itness-despite-reserves-brace-92746-30099803/

Freddy knows where the net is, he is a confidence player who will be given more time here to find his fitness. If he can score against Bulgaria and Man Utd when fit.... he can score against the likes of Barnet and Macclesfield!!

This is a fantastic day for Southend Utd, the gates will be up, the feel good factor will be back, this is exactly the news we need for a realistic promotion push.

I’m off to the bookies tomorrow to put a ton on us winning the playoffs, hopefully Alder**** go on a decent run and scrape 7th (we finish 5th) and meet them in the playoff final. Freddy tears them apart and bags a hatrick.... it will be the stuff dreams are made of!!

'just looked on their forum they are treating it as the return of a king! love to see the look of despair on their faces when he cant fit through the door'

'They're welcome to him! Utter waste of space!'

'Was never more than a lower league player on PL wages who couldn't be bothered to apply himself. Good riddance to bad fly-tipping rubbish!'

'The pressure on Freddy has just gone through the roof!! Imagine the response when he passes out jogging out of the tunnel. Or when he starts shooting up IV beef burgers in the penalty area... '

'They'll soon see how useless he is.'

'Embargo or not, we should all be happy with this move! Probably be easier to get a pie at the ricoh from now on'

'I don't usually boo ex players but boy is fatty gonna get it if we ever play against him again.

UP YOURS EASTWOOD.'

'why didnt ccfc get rid of him early in the season i think hes made a handfull of games this season taking 8k a week feck me we could of got a couple of decent players in instead of paying freddie for sitting on his fat arse '

'Hooray !

Eastwood has left the building !'

'This is there equivalent of us re signing Robbie Keane on loan, leave them to it though they'll soon realise he's ****.'

' As for Freddie. I think he can go because we have torn up his contract by mutual consent so he can find another club. So not subject to embargo conditions and gets £8k a week back in the clubs bank.'

Oh dear..not one good word for him.

We are delighted to have him and to be honest they are in a relegation battle and could do with all the fire power than can get. I hope we sign him on a permanenet if we go up then we batter them next season

I, like most Blues fans have great memories of Freddy. There was a lot of euphoria around yesterday
after the announcement and understandably so. However, let's not forget with our sekective memories - he was never the same after his goal against Man Utd. I, like all Blues, really hope he can do it for us. I know I will be shot down for
being negative. I would call it being realistic. Hope he can prove those Coventry fans wrong.

I think it's just ad important for us maybe more important that Bilel
plays for rest of season.

A question: certain players are clearly jealous of Bilel's popularity with the fans. I wonder if they will
React to Freddys popularity?

Fans always react like that when someone who hasnt really done the business for them and they move on. I take no notice of previous fans opinions. Besides, Coventry seem to have been residing in the bottom 4 or 5 of the Championship for the last 3 or 4 seasons.

I like many are absoultely delighted he has signed, BUT, i have always kept tabs on him since he left and with the exception of his start at Wolves/Wales and half a good season at Cov he really has not produced. I heard a journalist on radio last nite i think he was from the Cov echo and although he didnt slag Fred off he said that he had let himslef down. However, some players just need to be loved be at club suits them, Gabbiadini at sunderland, mcoist at rangers, le tis at southampton and maybe, just maybe we are the club for Fred. What i would like to see is him get himself fit, take football seriously again and if all goes well im guessing he would be happy to sign in the summer. financially he must be sorted and so just get back to playing football and put smile on his face.

My fear having read all on here is that many of you think he just has set foot on the pitch and it will happen. It wont, he is overweight and unfit, its going to take time, but welcome home Freddy and good luck.

Oh dear..not one good word for him.

I've been reading that board off and on all season and that thread is slightly misleading. There's plenty on there who felt Eastwood should have been playing and who always believed that Coventry wanting rid was more to do with finances than it was fitness. Also, reports on his weight from the games that he has played (briefly) in this season have been contradictory to say the least.

Plus, what do football fans know? :winking:

Sturrock will see him in training today. I assume that if he doesn't think Eastwood is fit enough to play then he won't play him. It's not like we're short of bodies or are struggling to score away from home.

I'll cry a bit if he doesn't play tomorrow though.
