Francis talking to Plymouth?

And before you say "well his job is to defend" you might want to take a look at Barrett and his mazy runs foward which by enlarge amount to nothing , yet leave us exposed at the back.

Scares the **** out me when he does that.

Canveyshrimper remembers the last time a Francis went to Plymouth.

So how do you show passion? Barrett is all double clenched-fists throwing his body on the line for tackles when he probably was caught a little bit out of position in the first place (don't get me wrong, I love the man). Simon Francis has been here three and a half years, has never moaned, signed a new contract when others (Bailey, Clarke) refused to despite being put on the list, and turned down a move to a Championship club two weeks ago. He has been given unfair stick from the crowd, has played in several different positions and yet he has never once moaned. Just because his demeanour is a little more reserved, doesn't mean he lacks passion for the cause.

By putting in a bit of effort rather than switching off and thinking about what he has for dinner. He has rubbissh concentration i'm sure you would agree?

I would say his lapses have cost us as many as his created. Don't forget Francis has been an ever present in one of the worst defences we have had since the championship.

Anyone that think Francis going is a good thing is sadly deluded. He is a class above anything else we have and a good player at this level. He switches off at times but if he didnt then i wager my life he would be at a higher level as the rest of his game is superb.

couldn't agree more! what players dont switch off from time to time? franno is class and IMO one of the best right backs in the league. any one wanting him to leave has serious issues.

I'm not saying he's perfect, he has the odd lapse but these are becoming fewer. He is reaching his peak as a player - don't forget he signed for us as a very young defender. If he leaves the right flank exposed when he is going forward, this is often because the holding midfielder is not doing his job properly and covering the space left.

He has really genuinely impressed me this season - and that poor defence you mention may have something more to do with Barrett having something like nine different partners this season already.

Not Franno's biggest fan by any stretch - BUT, as Jai says, he is cutting out the mistakes and lapses and is our best option going forward.

When on his game, he is a decent footballer and I can see why a CCC club would want him.

If he does go, big loss IMO.

Plus, from seeing Paul Mariner's interview on Sky over the weekend, I'd imagine Plymouth (if they can escape relegation) may well prove to be a surprise package in the CCC next season.

West Ham are looking for a right back and back up goalkeeper....
Supports the views of scouts from WHU being at Roots Hall. Francis is not better than Spector or Faubert and Mildenhall. Maybe.

Tillyhatesyellow boots you talk the biggest load of crap ever! a right backs role isnt to assist? are u serious, of course it is. he also can defend. Much better team without him... thats why he is getting interest from bigger clubs than us.. good one! what a load of rubbish!

for me this is the best news of heard in ages!!! better then even signing a new player!
francis is our biggest problem, the sooner he is gone the better, he just isnt interested, cant defend, gets caught on the ball, hoofs it everytime he gets the ball! out of 10 crosses 1 is a good one! corners are SHOCKING!!! plymouth take him please!!!!

Agree with that. Also if it weren't for his free kick on Saturday I doubt if we would have scraped a point. And FWIW Francis has not been an ever present, he's been dropped in favour of Hunt & Sankofa a number of times, notably for the Man Ure & Chelsea games.

You know i would gladly return to the days of 2,000 crowds if it meant witless cretins like you ****ed off and never returned
