Francis talking to Plymouth?

The myth that Francis can't defend is absolute nonsense. The kind of thing that because some people say it, others start to believe it. He's been our best player this season (the departed Barnard excepted) and is also our most dangerous going forward. His through ball for Laurent in the first half on Saturday was inch-perfect. If he goes, our forwards will be totally starved of service.

Canm anyone shed any light on the rumour that i heard from someone at the training ground that Simon Francis aint training today cos he has travelled for talks with a CCC side.

Plymouth was mentioned.

Anyone near the training ground to see if he is there or whether this is a wind up?????

I'm sure that another club got a bid accepted for him Mid-January, but Simon Francis rejected the contract, because he wanted to stay at the club (if I remember correctly!)
Why would he leave after saying that?

So whats you beef with francis?

Have you ever considered the reason he has been ineffective this season is because with Laurent or Scannell infront of him he has no protection when teams are attacking us. He is a weapon when going foward , but the midfield should be covering us on the break incase we get caught out. This hasnt happened this season and as a result huge holes open up and francis is blamed , when all he is actually doing is trying to offer support in attack.

And before you say "well his job is to defend" you might want to take a look at Barrett and his mazy runs foward which by enlarge amount to nothing , yet leave us exposed at the back.

i also would like to see francis go! defensively he's worrying! going forward fair enough he is good at crosses! id rather get a decent winger who can put crosses in and a full back that is very good at defending!

At least Barrett wants to play for Southend. Francis shows zero passion, that is what i think my view starts with.

So how do you show passion? Barrett is all double clenched-fists throwing his body on the line for tackles when he probably was caught a little bit out of position in the first place (don't get me wrong, I love the man). Simon Francis has been here three and a half years, has never moaned, signed a new contract when others (Bailey, Clarke) refused to despite being put on the list, and turned down a move to a Championship club two weeks ago. He has been given unfair stick from the crowd, has played in several different positions and yet he has never once moaned. Just because his demeanour is a little more reserved, doesn't mean he lacks passion for the cause.
