Marvellous!

Anyone who can run past two players with the ball, whilst holding one hand over their eye is some talent!

You lot clearly are not thinking in terms of the future .

Just imagine if we are promoted....Marc cannot score in league 1,what chance then in the championship!

Marc has scored 4 goals from open play in his last 73 appearances...5 including from the spot, his pitch minutes with us is hardly earth shattering, next season will probably be even less.

I cannot understand the length of contract, that is all.
if we go up via any means we can then sell him on and both parties make money.... the future is subjective when on a limited budget....

Great player at league 1 level! Reads the game well and is very influential in creating goals for others! The guys footballing brain is immense and u can see he has been playing at the highest level! Agreed he looked tired yesterday and was not as good as his performance against dons but it's the little things he does what makes a massive difference to our play

Not sure anyone would pay money for him at his age so we'd have to release him on a free. I don't see why having him in the Championship would be so bad though, he's quality for league 1 so he should be able to cope as a reserve striker in the Championship, it's not like he'd be first choice and I doubt our budget would extend to 4 quality Championship strikers.

It was the for time I've seen Fortuné play yesterday, and evaluating that alone I saw a player with a heavy touch, slow feet [albeit he had some good turns] and most importantly dwindled when in good positions.

At his age this isn't going to improve and in time I think we'll end up with another AB on our hands. [no disrespect to him, club legend]

That wasn't a typical performance from him, I felt.

A bit like all your other posts then ...the Roslyn, creaky old players, muscly young players, hilariously jaundiced stats, the club's awash with cash, £5k per week wages for the teaboy...yawn yawn yawn

That's the first resolution out the window then (not to rise to the bait). Expecting the second one (not to break wind at the dinner table) to be history before sunset.

Happy New Year!

Actually my son's old school mate who is the teaboy in the West has been back to us and confirmed that he's actually on £6k a week plus appearance and win bonuses. Meanwhile his other schoolmate, a certain M Fox, played in left mid for Charlton yesterday and has let slip that he fancies a move in the January window as he fancies the higher wages paid at SUFC for cooking the onions for the burgers. :-)

That's fair enough, from what I've been reading it did seem like an off day. I just think an additional 6 months, with an option would've been better.

Exactly my point too !

Every week that passes Marc will become a fraction slower, that is a fact as nobody can beat time,in 12 months time he will be 37? Yet still have 6 months left on his deal...bizarre decision to give him such a long deal at his age.

I understand people wanting the 6 months and option in our favour, but maybe it's something MAF wouldn't have signed up to. People need to realise that contracts are not just up to us and we have to give a deal which is acceptable to both parties.

Ive run 3 marathons over 11yrs and each time got slightly quicker. It's about treating your body with a little more respect as you get older.

Running a marathon and playing professional football are worlds apart in terms of match fitness and endurance, marathons are non contact and is endurance based, football will be virtual combat.

A little bit surprised when I first saw that it was an 18 month deal but the more I think about it the more I think it is a great signing.

Marc is unlikely to be a regular starter but that means we now have Cox, Ranger and Fortune signed up for this and next season which is an exciting prospect.

I suspect that alongside Williams we will probably release Mooney at the end of the season and we have a strong base to build on. We could even take chance on one or 2 younger strikers. It may even be that come next season Marc drops down to 4th choice but that is no bad thing.

It is not as if we are building a team around Marc and his professionalism and fitness is excellent. Nile Ranger looks to be turning his life around and Marc is an excellent role model for what can be achieved if you train and look after yourself properly.

You are right that nobody can beat time but you seem to think that Marc ages quicker than everyone else. He is currently 35 so in 12 months time he will be........?

He will be 36 and 5 months !..hence why I left question mark after 37.
