How on earth does this warrant such a deal

Marc's league record with us....minutes on pitch.

20..56..12..2..11..89..9..20..13..26..6..54..86.....plus today

0 goals.

Absoulate travesty of wasting funds.

Why is everyone getting so worked up about mrsblue's opinion. It's not as if it has not been aired before. It was totally off track then and it is again now, but don't rise to the bait eh?

Fully agree, the poster (Mrsblue) doesn't go to games, doesn't see what goes on off pitch either; so the post is only about a set of dull figures solely designed to support an opinion.
A few goals would be welcome!
As others have, I have watched the bloke and he is as fit as any out there, he works his socks off and is a great partner for Cox and back up for Ranger.
I am pleased he has been signed upand he is a great example to young pros on how to conduct themselves.

Why is it off track ?

Fair play give him monthly terms or even till the season ends, but 18 months, somebody at the club is having a laugh.
further
0 league goals.

I've added those magic words 'in my opinion' which means I don't have to explain it further.:smiles:

We need a quality squad to be successful, This is where he is a good addition and a good signing for 18 months. Always looks positive in the warm-ups, even when not starting. Nearly always effective straight away when he comes on as a sub.
Never gives the ball away, can maintain possession or hold up play. Keeps himself fit for his age. Sure he must be a good influence on Ranger. Ticks a lot of boxes for me as a squad player.

He was sensational against Wimbledon. Didn't quite go for him today but not for the want of trying. Good to get him signed up.

Come on,

This club has just tied up decent money for the next 18 months on an old bloke who cannot score now ...imagine him in a year's time.

Contrick

Ranger hasn't scored many either or any at roots hall but we have offered a 3 year deal.

It may have escaped your attention but we have gone from a very negative goal difference to a positive one whilst wracking up 12 without defeat.

I'd like to think that this is a team effort and not down to any singular player.

He has been class the last few games. We have had some absolute dog **** strikers over the years MAF is not one of them.

I am really pleased that Fortune has signed (Hope it is confirmed). He has played at the highest level and that can only be a help not a hinderance. Sure throughout his career he has never been a prolific scorer but he has and will be a very useful addition to the squad.

A good signing for the influence and professionalism he brings to the team.

Sometimes a signing is deeper than what he can produce on the football field.

We've had players at this club that were gun players but caused ructions in the dressing room, Moshni anyone?

One of the most physically fit 35 year olds I have seen in 45 years watching football, if true a great signing

Sure we all would prefer someone who does everything MAF does plus score goals, so tell me please MrsBlue where does SUFC get the millions it would take to purchase such a Messi type player.

i agree, total waste of money, no goals scored- it's not like he has got any assists either. or that we have picked up any points when he has played .Our forward play is crap when he plays. He is another like that cox and ranger bloke, I don't understand why we don't sign two 20 goal a season forwards. We will never get promoted without one or two of them. It's not like it's happened before, everyone knows you can't be promoted without one. We could have saved a fortune by playing Jason Williams every week, just look at his scoring record at Chelmsford vs fortune in the prem. I just don't understand why everyone who actually watches us play is so blind,- I just don't understand it. And I bet he is staying in the Roslin ,don't get me started on that!

my god mrsblue, you really have a blinkered agenda driven approach to the club. Fortune has done well since he came here and is obviously as close to a model pro as we have on our books.

Maybe just maybe he can be a great influence on the younger members at the club, if you had to choose who would you rather have mentoring Jason Williams, fortune or ranger?

To her credit she's formulated this spot on review by watching 1 game with him , maybe 2.. , so give her a break as she know s more than the people that have watched him week in week out ! Some people eh MrsBlue

Only 7 teams have scored more goals than we have in League one, and if you take the last 12 games I bet that there might only be one or two that have outscored us.

Fortune has been a big part of this.

I think if Cox, Ranger and Fortune stay fit for the rest of the season, we will probably be in the top 4 for goals scored, and all of that without a 20 goal a season forward.

Cox, Ranger, Wordsworth, McClaughlin (unless the injury is bad), maybe Atkinson, will all get more than 10 goals. Lenny, Fortune, and the back four will chip in with a few each.

Much rather have that, than being reliant on one player.

I remember the Webb team with Tilly, Butler, Benji, Ansah etc. In one season every player scored, and there were about 5 players on more than 10 goals.
