Films you've watched recently.

Thanks for the link. Just watched it, very well directed by Terence Fisher, later of Hammer horror fame. By coincidence I recently watched another of his earlier efforts 'Stolen Face' with Paul Henreid and Lizabeth Scott (in a dual role). One of those Britsh Bs with imported American stars and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I am glad that you enjoyed it--I wonder if "Danger" was made for educational purposes.
I found "Stolen Face" and I will watch it later this week (Thanks for the heads up)

'Danger' seemed like an extended 'don't drink and drive' public service film. Interesting that the main character was an upper class scoundrel!
Re 'Stolen Face' I forgot to say it seems to prefigure aspects of 'Vertigo' (not intended as a spoiler)

As a fan of Hollywood westerns (not the Spaghetti version I hasten to add) I started to dig out the 13 ''B' westerns that A. C. Lyles produced for Paramount between 1964-68. No masterpieces certainly but the main interest is in the use of veterans from the 40s and 50s like Dana Andrews, Barry Sullivan and Rory Calhoun, leading ladies like Jane Russell and Virginia Mayo and so many well known faces in supporting roles, like Lon Chaney, Lyle Bettger and Wendell Corey. Undemanding and predictable fare but a real nostalgia fest .

Hidden Figures - On NetFlix. Why oh why had I taken so long to watch this film. Absolutely brilliant, true story.

Three female African-American mathematicians play a pivotal role in astronaut John Glenn's launch into orbit. Meanwhile, they also have to deal with racial and gender discrimination at work.
It's about as far from a true story as it's possible to get. And it's crap.

British title 'London belongs to me', I saw this again the other week as part of my trip through British films of the 40s. Some great character actors in it. Alastair Sim especially. Susan Shaw seemed to be in everything around that time.
Oh Alastair Sim was a truly wonderful actor.

Saw Mike Leigh's 1988 Secrets and Lies last night .For years thought this was ML's best film. Not any More FWIW ,High Hopes was ,IMO.Though S& Lies is still a great film & Timothy Spall, Brenda Blethyn & Marianne Jean- _Baptiste give oustanding performances.
