I'd rather sit in my seat in the South upper than poxy North
Last time we entertained Southport in a cup tie, as recently as 1926, we won 5-2.
He’d have been older than that!

Was that on your old hand cranked silent movie camera, Cricko?Just digging out the Vlog i took at the game mate.
And we played Southport in the league for the last time in 77-78 I think (?)
We had John Burridge in goal on loan from Villa and they had ex Villa 'keeper and Worcestershire wicketkeeper Jim Combes in goal for them. We won a really entertaining game 4-2 with Dave Smith playing a 4-2-4 formation.
We finished the season runners up to Watford, they* got relegated from the Football League.

Can tell someone used to be a postman. If there were an entrance via Shakespeare Avenue, there would have to be a very long bridge or tunnel, passing over or under Fairfax Drive.
was thinking the same , used to like Southport, Southend v Southport had a ring to it . saying the it will probably be Peterborough Sports who we have never played before .Recall the days when Southend v Southport was a regular Football League fixture (sigh).
He was a bowler.
