FA Trophy fourth round draw - Southport (H)

Trevor Bailey got my son a club to play cricket with when he came over there many years ago from Australia , Thundersley and Hadleigh i think it was , my brothers would know more than me ,they live there

Jim Standen played for Arsenal, Luton and West Ham . He was part of the Worcestershire side that won the County Championship in the early Sixties., having joined them while at Arsenal. I am sure they were others at that time. Footballers had a natural break, allowing them to double up. Dennis Compton doubled up, played for Middlesex and Arsenal.
@Thundersley Blue As did his elder brother Leslie Compton who also played Cricket for Middlesex CCC and Football for Arsenal.

Anyone else notice this evening, that Daggers suffered an embarrassing defeat at Chertsey, in this competition?
Yeovil also lost at home to Weymouth in their derby match. Goodship with both goals.

Shame Barnet, FGR's and York are all still in it. Other than them, quite a favourable selection of teams left in it. Barnet have Altrincham away next, so at least one of those NL teams will be out.

They average around 1,200 for league games.

I'd expect perhaps a couple of hundred from Southport. It's a big away day for them!

Tough time of year financially though, so fair play to the 2 or 200 of them that travel, first week of Jan. It's a long way. 250 miles or 5-6 hours each way.
Like Fylde away, hang on a minute

There is a thread on medicracy going on.
How about fans get behind the club in this cup, which is a Wembley National televised final, with prize money and feel good factor.
Yes it is tin pot BUT we aren't going to win the FA Cup this season.
And a Wembley final will be a good try out for Play Off Final.
So, good folks, cut the bitching and accept what it is ( a mediocre competition!) spend the £10 or so and we have more chances of winning in front of a 5k crowd than flat 1500.
Finally, winning is a good habit to get into isn't it?

I went to the non league finals day last season and it was one of the best days out at football I've had. Had two games in Club Wembley for £35. Fantastic value and brilliant day out.

When I saw Solihull and Gateshead fans starting to enter, I kept thinking that I wish it was us. Who cares what competition it is in?! A day out at Wembley for our club is an experience to be cherished. Beats going to grounds like Oxford City and Maidenhead.

Totally agree. Can understand some people deciding not to go but it’s a home game at a reduced rate so why wouldn’t we get 4500+. I’d never miss a game unless I had a genuine excuse to not be able to go. We know how much we can help the team at RH so this is another chance to do so

Also its a Saturday game and a chance to relax enjoy a game of football after the festivities off the new year and xmas.

Have to agree with these recent posts.Surely if you support a club you support them through think and thin.Southport may not be the most exciting game but it's your club at home in a competition that the club earns money that's needed and progress to earn more money and the potential of a Wembley visit.Whats not to like just turn up get behind the team and you may be surprised
