Damn, my vote for Ireland was what sealed their fate! Because i voted for them they were the 1st to be knocked out!

Better economy though. :winking:

Actually, the percentage ratios of debt to GDP are remarkably similar in both economies although the UK has more time and more flexibility as to when and how it pays down its debt.Of course, this is only the case because Spain is a Eurozone member, whereas the UK isn't and can thus set its own interest rates and devalue against the Euro(as it has been doing for sometime now, unofficially).

Yeah you certainly stuck your neck out there.
Indeed, that seems to be the obvious choice for everyone but in this crazy season anything is possible. Personally I think Spain will come unstuck probably against the French tonight but if not then against Portugal.(having best player in tournament will help). I do reckon they miss Puyol and are not that clinical and maybe showing signs of arrogance. I put a bet on last week for a Portugal v England final, maybe heart over head as its my dream scenario, favourite team v favourite player but still possible.

The French weren't anywhere near good enough last night(apart from a brief period at the beginning of the second half).I would agree that Portugal will cause Spain a lot more problems but I still think they'll get through to the final where Germany might well beat them.
Have to laugh about Carlos Puyol. For years now Alan Hansen has been saying he's far too slow for a centre back.Gets injured and suddenly he's irreplacable.

Put this on the England v France thread but as Barna has commented on it here, I'll reproduce my post.
So much for a France v England Euro Final! For five minutes in the second-half France looked as though they may threaten but apart from that they offered VERY little, being both controlled and dominated by a Spanish team that didn't really have to get out of third gear. Seeing that France had recently conceded two goal at home to Sweden and two against Sweden, I wouldn't have thought that it was a good plan to try and defend against the likes of Spain..........but hey ho! I'm not a football manager.
Honestly, not expecting a great spectacle from England v Italy this evening. I just hope that the Italians don't score early on, other wise it risks being a boring and above all a very frustrating.

(You never know though, Italy might be able to cause Germany some problems in the SF).:winking:

That smiley is PRECISELY why so many on here think you are an utter c unit

IF you had left the statement as it was, or put a downbeat smiley you'd get half as much grief as you do

and the utter delight you'll probably show if (as expected by me at least) Italy do turn us over tonight will be plain for all to see

I used to enjoy watching Spain play but now simply hope they lose every match just so as to shut you up
