Also I don’t remember Gerrard being criticised for being up last in 2005 champions league final, it didn’t come to him because they won before he was required. So it is just a non- existent reason put up just because the result went the wrong way for Portugal.

The dislike for Ronaldo is probably unfair and irrational - but isn't that what being a football fan is all about?

I've only ever seen him play once in the flesh and he flounced and stropped his way across the Roots Hall pitch and had a schoolboy tantrum, beating his fists into the turf, because Darryl Flahavan had the nerve to make save after save from his shots. Add to that the history he has in matches against England and the fact I generally (like any right minded football fan IMO) dislike players with a connection with Manc Who unless they are wearing an England kit and that explains the feeling against him.

It's not fair or considered, it's bias and one-eyed - like I said, that's called being a football fan.
 
Oh man the Italians got me so hard last night, what a great performance. Cassano is a right plum, but a fantastic story that he's arguably playing his best-ever football, only 9 months after a TIA.

Balotelli is just a walking legend, on and off the pitch. The whole squad is pulling together and Prandelli must take so much credit for getting them to play great football when they were looking pretty dire at the start of qualifying.

Gonna be a great game on Sunday, the group match between them was tasty - I hope Italy take it to the Spaniards again.

Really? He's always struck me as a particularly petulant player. His time at Liverpool seemed to be sensational performances laced with perpetual bemoaning of decisions that went against him. The one key incident that comes to mind was him kicking lumps out of the penalty spot after United were awarded penalty right in front of the referee... I'm still at a loss as to how he escaped punishment, seeing as it's a fairly blatant example of unsportsmanlike conduct.
