Spain were good but their job was made easier by Ireland playing at times like a Sunday league team - in fact I have seen better defending in Sunday League! Ireland came into this competition with a very good defensive record but they forgot the simple basics of defending. People moan about the negative way England are playing but I much rather build a solid foundation and move on from there instead of being humiliated.

For the Torres goal, by the time Richard Dunne had picked himself off the floor I'd gone and made a brew and had a wee.

Some strange selection decisions from Trappatoni. Mclean, Walters, Long and Gibson on the bench. All premier league players.

I watched a Sporanos Box Set. Then followed up with a ball-by-ball DVD of Geoff Boycott's 100 greatest innings.

****ing hell, looks like armageddon in the french match from what im hearing on the radio. rained off after 4 minutes.

Croatia Czech England Denmark France Germany Greece Italy Holland Portugal Poland Ireland Russia Spain Sweden Ukraine

For Barna, in another thread i predicted Spain, Germany, Italy and Ukraine for the semis which was a bit silly as 3 of them are in the same half of the draw :thump: .. i said Ukraine as an outsider but i'll ditch them for the Czechs

Good punt.If you made that prediction before the results.:smiles:

Congrats to the potato muchers who have managed to last ten minutes without conceeding so far tonight

Hopefully we'll have a public holiday here tomorrow if they keep it goalless until half-time.

So we are down to 9 i've been flicking from one match to the other and also watching a bit of the cricket this evening but from what i saw the Spanish were very very lucky to get through, the mark of a good side i guess

Croatia should have had a penalty and Rakitic missed a sitter but Spain were coasting. They looked like a side who were playing a dead rubber instead of being a goal away from going out for most of the game. They went back to six midfielders in the second half as well. At best they're over-thinking, at worst they're incredibly cocky.

We'll take them in the next round.

Correct.TBF Croatia had one real chance which Cassillas saved superbly.
