RS Bopara*, MA Chambers, TR Craddock, BT Foakes†, BA Godleman, JC Mickleburgh, TS Mills, M Osborne, ML Pettini, RJW Topley, T Westley, AJ Wheater

Where did you get that side from B, as both Tim Phillips and Ryan ten Doeschate are playing v SL

It was on Cricinfo just before the start, ah well.

Thats unusual because they are normally spot on

BA Godleman, ML Pettini, T Westley, RS Bopara*, TJ Phillips, RN ten Doeschate, BT Foakes†, MA Chambers, RJW Topley, TR Craddock, TS Mills

Wheater, Osborne and Mickleburgh miss out from the XII listed earlier, and thats not such a bad idea really .. Phillips has struggled in the longer form this season and could do with some match time and tenDo has only played T20 since the World Cup finished so a decent net would be no bad thing either

Doesn't look a good toss to have lost. SL getting some good batting practice 223-2. Curious that after getting his century, Thirimanne is given Retd. out.........does that mean that he has terminated his innings, in order to let some of the others get a knock?

That was horrible. No defeat is good, but defeat to that objectionable bunch in the lime green skintight shirts is even harder to take.

I know, it really hurts to lose to the umpires. That was clearly a no-ball Foster was out to, and Bopara was lbw to one which hit him outside the crease above the knee roll on a bouncy Oval track.

True true, but still a lamentable batting display, we should've been 11-0 off one ball as Shah should've put the first legitimate delivery out of the ground not down the fielders throat .. and Napier tweaking his hamstring meaning he couldn't bowl out did us no favours either

We need to take a look at how we approach the powerplay as we are constantly around 25-3 after 5 overs which is simply not good enough, oh well at least we have an easy game tomorrow to bounce back with

Hello everyone :)

Yes I am poking my head above the parapet, this is the only time I can recall (in recent years) The Rey beating Essex in a T20 game. I've taken plenty of stick for it as well.

I thought we were 10 runs short but with a decent bowling attack you've always got a chance.

I'm not expecting us to win the return leg at Chelmsford, I think Essex are as good as anyone on their own patch and under the lights always produce.

It is about time stats .. you beat us at Imber Court in our (and yours) first ever T20 match but followed that with 10 successive defeats* before last night

* unless any were called off due to weather

Easy game time! Why do we always prefer to chase a total? We won the toss and put Somerset in ........98-2 off 10.2 overs....that's OK then!!! ..........Trescothic still there.
