We seem to be carrying a bowler too many. I know Wright is earmarked to bowl at the death, but wouldn't Wheater to strengthen the batting have been a better call? He's been scoring freely in the CC.

Once again its Tim Phillips keeping us in the game, Napier is going at double figures and Wrights sole over cost 17 .. i'd be surprised if we are chasing anything less than 200 at this rate

151-3 off 17 overs. Southee just bowled an over for 1 run.........amazing. Phillips got the wicket of the dangerous Goodwin. Another wicket 153-4....Vincent out.

Well, tonight looks more promising, with a late surge from Ten Do and Styrus taking us to 204. We've then dismissed their three openers for ducks! (Southee 2 Napier 1) .......from 4-3 they've now moved onto 24-3 off 4.5 overs

now thats over I've found Glamorgan v Middlesex on S4C, in Welsh. Not sure what's the more bizarre, cricket in Welsh, or Mark Cosgrove running in to bowl!

I finished off my day of cricket on Friday by getting to Chelmsford during the first over, an awesome display, in fact near faultless .. Scott Styris is fast becoming an Essex legend with the bat, 4 sixes in a row and i was convinced he was going to get all 6 but alas and Southee too looked terrific getting 2 in 2

After the horror show in Sussex the night before this was a much needed win, to my mind the club have been a little too vocal and cocksure of itself in regard to this years T20 competition, its one thing to be confident and positive but to come right out and say "we're going to win it" is a very bold statement indeed and one which could come back and bite you in the ***, 2 games this week v undefeated Sussex at home and pointless Middlesex away, 2 more wins are needed to settle ourselves among the South group leaders

Off to Lords tonight for the T20, we need to be 100% better than last night when Sussex beat us oh so easily

Just about to leave the office to head down there. I was intending to buy an England sun hat from the shop at Lord's, but judging by the darks clouds in the sky I may need to get myself a brolly....

Looks like it was a great game to attend.

Bit of a mixed bag team playing the Lanks today.

RS Bopara*, MA Chambers, TR Craddock, BT Foakes†, BA Godleman, JC Mickleburgh, TS Mills, M Osborne, ML Pettini, RJW Topley, T Westley, AJ Wheater

We were discussing the probable line up last night and that is about what was expected, in a tight schedule (Weds,Thurs T20, Fri-Sun SL, Mon+Weds T20) we were never going to send out anything like our strongest XI but Ravi and Petts are just so out of touch its untrue and need some time at the crease

Last night game was fairly routine in the end, with the ball we never let them get away and Southee followed up his 0-46 on Wednesday with a spell of pace hostility and control, taking 3-21 Middlesex simply couldn't handle him, while Tim Phillips confirmed himself as the leading bowler to date in this years comp with a decent return of 1-27

They closed on 148-5 which became 150 during the interval as a 6 had been recorded as a 4 in error, it looked irrelevent after the first 2 overs had gained us a solitary wide but cost the wickets of Bopara and Pettini (ITS NOT WORKING GRAYSON !!!!) .. thankfully we didn't fall into the trap of promoting hit or miss Napier and instead sent out a couple of "proper" batsmen

Shah began to steady the innings, firstly with Matt Walker (adding 33) and then RtD (44) and it was during the tenDo partnership (in 27 balls) where we finally managed to really get a foothold, Styris came and went cheap but James Foster soon settled in and a burst of 42 in 3 overs settled the match, appropriately it was Shah who sealed it, pulling (McLaren?) high over deep mid-micket for 6 to end on 78* from 50 balls with 5 4s and 5 6s, Fozzie chipped in with 30 in 18 for what turned out to be an easy win

Im also starting to think BLUEBLOOD Junior might be a lucky omen, his 2nd visit to Lords saw his 2nd win, his 4th game of the season saw his 4th win .. we are at The Oval on Monday, now its on telly so tempted for a night in, though Junior has been there once before and you already know the result soooo ....

A good summing up Lee, in reality it was a routine win against a poor side, Finn apart. I hope the disppointment that Ravi must be feeling isn't playing on his mind and it's a case of poor form which he'll come through. I thought Shah would be a good signing and so it's proving, and Southee is a class act, love to see him stay for the rest of the season.
