I hope this means we play to his strengths and keep the ball on the deck a bit more as he is only 5.9. tall.

Yeah this is key to our play now. For me Dickinson has done really well in the air for us but isn't a targetman either. If we could get it down and play a bit more then I think we'd get the best out of both strikers and on paper have a very decent strike pairing at this level.

Got to be honest though, it will be interesting to see what Sturrock's plan is to freshen up the team. Benyon isn't a targetman and we've been playing quite direct all season. You'd think that other players are coming in too if we're changing our style of play. Obviously we still have players at the club that can get it down and play but I'd imagine players like Kalala wouldn't see as much action.

Excellant signing, good goal scoring record when played regularly. This is exactly the type of player we need. Someone with pace who can get round the back of the defence. really excited by this signing. Pretty certain Timlin will follow next week as well and still talk of another couple of signings on top. Guess for all this to happen we will be losing a couple, wonder whether team selection on Monday may tell a story!

Anyway welcome EB and good luck.

I agree and have been bleating on for ages about the fact that other successful teams in this league do not have to resort to hoofball to get out of this division so why are we...I hope we see a change.

A good signing I'm sure. If we also sign Timlin why would Swindon agree to sell these two to us when we are promotion rivals? It might well bite them on the bum.

Swindon get rid of 2 players deemed surplus to their requirements, allowing them extra flexibility in the window, if they really rated these two then they wouldn't have sold them and theremore would've played them when they had the chance

Ha ha thanks for this Scott. The crossbar challenge also features Mr Hi Ho himself Danny Stevens!

Smiffy,

Not seen much of this guy to be honest, what would you say his qualities are, pace etc

cheers

I wouldn't say he is noted for his pace. Although being a small chap, he should be pretty quick over 20 yards and a bit tricky to deal with. He is more of a workhorse, with a genuine eye for goal. A "fox in the box" type player, who will put away chances if given them.

I cannot imagine we will change our style much. Dicko will still be the "target/hold up man" and Benyon will feed off him.

Not good news for Mr. Harris though, that's for sure...

Got to admit I'm concerned about this signing as you lot all seem to rate him and that invariably ends badly. The more talked up a signing is, the bigger the disappointment they usually are (see Harris, Neil; Johnson, Jemal et al). Still, it won't be his fault because this has been welcomed as a good signing, it'll be the manager's fault for not playing to his strengths.

He's also the anti-Timlin, because he's been on a winning side three times since 11 January (in 28 appearances for three different clubs) and his last 7 appearances have all ended in defeat. No wonder he looks bloody miserable.

Will be interesting to see if PS wants to change the style (or at least have the option). Just before our nightmare week, Harris and Sturrock played up front together for 45 mins and were superb - no big man there but Harris pulled the defence all over the place and everything stuck to Sturrock. If Benyon's instinct is to go for goal, whereas Blair always looks to bring others in, it might give some different options, especially should Dicko get injured/suspended.
