from the same source ,the report states foreign lorries are 8 times more dangerous than english counterparts,many foreign lorries are indeed not roadworthy.

the sad truth is british firms now employ foreign drivers as they offer cheaper wages thus meaning british drivers are being forced to either look elsewhere or more than likely end up on the dole.

Partly correct but only partly. Old fleet vehicles meaning pre- 1999 are considered to be most at risk of severe defects that are normally the fault of poor maintanace and that goes right across the board regardless of where the vehicle is from.

British firms are not so much employing cheaper labour from abroad but are registering vehicle abroad for mainly tax purposes and are employing drivers from the Eastern Bloc when the cargo is heading either from there or to there.

De Hoy, which is a Dutch company, employ a bundle of Polish drivers in Polish registered vehicles who run back and forth from the Tractor Plant in Basildon to Eastern Europe. They get paid a pittance compared to British drivers but still better than what they would get back home. Where I work we see plenty of their trucks coming in for running repairs and to be fair De Hoy do run a pretty new fleet but that is not always the case. We have had some Latvian vehicles come in that should be condemed but then again I have seen some pretty grim ones running out of yards from up north.

I think the point here is that as we operate the plain and simply stupid action of sending fines in the post where as everyone else in Europe applies a 'On The Spot Fine' then this country will not get the dangerous trucks off the road and as long as they have paid for 'The Presidents Breakfast' in France then they will just keep coming.

this is false mate,

no british driver could continue working after his wages had suffered a massive cut,eastern bloc drivers are in many cases working for £400 per month which means no british guy could live on that kind of money.

every industry has suffered because of low paid workers happy to take the cash and sadly british folk cannot compete.

I tell you what graysblue, walk into any orthapaedic ward in any hospital in this country and look at the people in there, a large majority are white, British wasters who take drugs, spend all day in the pub then get drunk, fall over, off a balcony and cost the taxpayer a bunch. Yes I agree SOME foreign people take the **** but this country is full of wasters as it is, we could ban all the foreigners we like, the country would still be in the state its in, just we would have no doctors of nursesto treat all the druggies and drunks.

personally i feel its bloody unfair on british workers to be under cut and lets make this perfectly clear ie british meaning white/black/asian ect and this goverment allows this practise to continue which simple maths tells me will result in massive lost revenue.


the guys who live next door to me are from slovakia and they have informed me the average wage in that country is £200 per month hence why they are here because they send cash back home and indeed will return home in due course,some of you may think this is all fine and dandy yet the simple fact is these people are depriving british workers from working because this goverment gave large companies incentives to employ immigrants thus meaning british workers were being fecked big time.

so, IF they live in Uk and IF they earn less than British counter parts and IF they are sending money back to thier 'home' countries AND still affording to live in the UK...where does your argument stand?

Surely thats market forces in action, which is only what this Govt. is continuing from previous Govts.

And, yes I do work here in Spain legally and I do earn more than my Spanish equivilent, again that is up to the employer. However, there are many Brits who live here, who dont contribute to the system by working illegally....SHOCK,HORROR!!!

The Sanish are quite pragmatic, though admittidly, it is changing..they understand that if they dont chase the tax dodgers too hard, they will stay in Spain and spend thier hard earned Euros on 'luxury goods'

Now, before you shout..'but the ex commies are sending thier money back to kzeviksoapotania', thats thier choice..they could spend it on luxury goods in UK,like food?

Spainish Shrimper and Javea Shrimper both have made their homes in Spain for several years and contribute to the Spanish economy.

Libertine has emigrated not just strolled in because he can.

Einstein has made his home in Holland, works and contributes.

Chadded is a serving member of the Armed Forces and goes where he is told.

Vehicles coming in from abroad registered abroad contribute nothing at all in revenue to this country. They fuel up in France, have auxcillery tanks and also carry extra fuel illegally I might add so they have no need to re-fuel in this country. So apart from what they are delivering, just what are they contributing to this country?

You are very quick off the mark to make comment but perhaps you should try doing a little research before spouting off. You don't work in the industry so you have no knowledge of it at all which is painfully apparant.
