Dangerous roads!

you are bonkers

perhaps you could explain to family members of the 6 killed recently on the m6

Dear Alf,

Has anyone ever been killed on the M6 by poor British driving? What do the voices in your head say?

thanks for the red guys.

why must people get personal regarding this subject???

after all i have quoted actual figures taken from the web.

shame some of you cannot respond with facts which give credence to your beliefs.

some of you use the racist card to silence people, those days are virtually gone.

in addition find anywhere i have used racist language, simple fact is you cannot.

Well I think you must be a lier.

You state the stats are taken from timesonline which came from an insurance bureau? But foreign drivers don't pay insurance. Ever. Full Stop.

thanks for the red guys.

Why do you feel the need to scour the internet and the "popular" press to dig up dubious statistics. It seems every single post you start is along the lines of...."I'm not racist, but...."

Hmmm, I don't think thats an entirely accurate list there, I presume, like spanishshrimper that reflects eastern europe only?

On the subject, there is a road near Le Paz in Bolivia called The Road of Death, which averages 100 deaths a year!!! On my world travels last year I was fooled into giving a bike and told to cycle down it. Possibly the one of the scariest things I've ever done.

Don't tell me,full of eastern european lorry drivers madness.

on a similar note, as I understand it, vehicles over 7.5 Tonne, are now restricted to 56mph - not just the speed limit but physically restricted. I have seen numerous foreign lorries charging along at a far greater speed. Does anyone know if this law applies to them? If not, it would probably be worth British firms buying and registering their vehicles abroad.

i have never said nothing of the sort ie your last few words.

i just think the people who wish to have a pop cannot argue their case because their case becomes weaker each passing day.

bit like the bullyboy who says to his victim "say that again and i will do you"

I didn't say you did, I said it SEEMS like it.

GB you can twist and bend statistics to meet whatever outcome you want them to be. That's what the Government have doing since time began.

"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." said Disraeli. And as a politician he should know eh?

If you chaps could stop bickering amongst yerselves, could anyone answer my question:

I imagine yes, it should apply to them. But if they get caught speeding they send the fine to some company in Slovenia and I'm sure it magically disappears.

Vehicles over 7.5 t registered within the European Union are restricted to 56mph however that does not apply to vehicles outside the Union and plenty of Eastern European vehicles coming into the UK are old fleet which have not been restricted. Also, issued fines are sent to the registered office of said vehicles which as MK suggests probably get buried in landfill. Of course the rest of Europe issue on the spot fines which you either pay or have your vehicle impounded or as I found out, most ex- soviet countries have police forces that just stick a gun in your ear and demand money.

Thanks Grouty. Another thing we should sort out. It shouldnt be too difficult to just refuse entry to these vehicles if they dont meet our regs. This sort of thing puts British firms at a disadvantage in their own Country.

from the same source ,the report states foreign lorries are 8 times more dangerous than english counterparts, many foreign lorries are indeed not roadworthy.

the sad truth is british firms now employ foreign drivers as they offer cheaper wages thus meaning british drivers are being forced to either look elsewhere or more than likely end up on the dole.

The British drivers do of course have the option to work for the same money though. Its the lorries that are giving British firms a disadvantage.

this is false mate,

no british driver could continue working after his wages had suffered a massive cut, eastern bloc drivers are in many cases working for £400 per month which means no british guy could live on that kind of money.

every industry has suffered because of low paid workers happy to take the cash and sadly british folk cannot compete.

That may well be the case, but a least my new avatar looks good.
