Cricket World Cup (50 Overs)

England' must win game has got underway.....if we lose we are out. We therefore bring in the 'proven pedigree' players Wright and Tredwell, plus Tremlett. Anderson Collingwood and Shazad left out. Relying on 20 overs from Wright, Bopara, Trott and Tredwell........given we only have Bresnan and Tremlett and proper seamers I presume Swann will open the bowling and his spell will be crucial as early wickets will enable us to sneak in Wrigt and Bopara's overs as they consolidate......

Prior out but 3 boundaries from Trott's first 5 balls faced is encouraging. What's the par score at Chennai?

Chennai results so far:

Kenya Innings
69 all out (23.5 overs)
New Zealand Innings
72 for 0 (8.0 overs

England Innings
171 all out (45.4 overs)
South Africa Innings
165 all out (47.4 overs)

In the absence of YB, I had a quick look and seems like its a ground not used much, only 3 proper ODI's since 2007. It was the venue for our low scoring game against South Africa last week and before that a cruishing win for NZ against Kenya (Kenya all out batting first for 69.). Game before that, 3 months ago, New Zealand batted first and were all out of 103. SO with Englands 171 against South Africa, thats a mammoth average first innings score of 114.33.....

Strauss, gone now, probably paying price for not having much strike (which was problem for Prior before he went). In meantime Trott is going a bit Ross Taylor - 27 from first 11 balls.....

Bell really has to ensure he gets an early single each over so Trott can stay in the zone and keep the strike.....at moment he is using a couple of dot balls then the single so Trott is only getting one or two balls and over....

I think I would have been tempted to take the batting powerplay now.....Windies have brought on their 4th and 5th bowlers and we are likely to enter a sedate phase before we are forced to take it and they bring back their main bowlers.....taking it now would have posed their skipper some problems as to whether to keep his strike bowlers on or expose his lesser bowlers to it, plus even if we went at a realistic 6 an over, it would have got us ahead of the game.

Agree with all that, quite a few people have been saying we need to take the powerplay earlier once the strike bowlers have been taken off.

Oh dear oh dear. If Ravi fails we're in massive trouble, Luke Wright in next and then Bresnan who's averaged 5 at this WC.

Roach bowls Bell, looked like it kept low. 134-4 and things are not looking good at all.

Bell can't even get his usual 30 odd. 27 off 48 balls when he's being bowled at by Pollard and Bishoo. He can **** right off now. How much more of his underachieving do we have to put up with? 96 ODIs, 62 tests and not a decisive innings amongst them. At least Hick was good in ODIs.

Bopara's in but he can't afford to take any risks as England simply haven't got any batting left.

Especially now Morgan's out. Bollocks.

Ironic that on St. Patrick's day it's the embarrassing loss vs Ireland that has probably knocked us out of the World Cup. The Ashes seem so long ago now......

Luke s***e is ****ing brain-dead. We were going along nicely and he tries to whack it out the park with 7 overs to play.

Hard to be too critical having doubled the contribution of the rest of the middle order. Need one of Swannys cameos to get us to 250 now.
