Cricket World Cup (50 Overs)

ECB have just confirmed this news ...

No replacement named yet.

Tremlett I presume?

Seeing the likes of Tahir and Smith bowling, I wish Rashid was in our squad....cant someone 'injure' Tredwell so we can call him up....maybe Kevin O ' Callaghan style from Escape to Victory.....

Back to the Akmal discussion, he dropped a few and made many more clangers! I think he is just bad, rather than being corrupt! Afridi certainly wasn't impressed by him...

Funnily enough, we were saying the exact same thing in the office yesterday

I think Tremlett may already be with squad as there were doubts about Broad & Anderson pre tournament. I agree about Tredwell why on earth he was selected ahead of Rashid is beyond me. For Friday I think Shahzad will come in for Broad, he didn't do a bad job with bat & ball against India.

I didn't get chance to see the NZ carnage earlier but made sure i recorded the highlights, looking forward to those last 5 overs immensely :hilarious:

Tremlett confirmed as Broad's replacement... Morgan has also arrived and had a batting net on his own but isn't taking part in fielding practice now. Collingwood not doing alot in practice and it doesn't sound like his knee is in great shape (apparently he didn't even play golf!)

EDIT: Collingwood not feeling well, apparently!

Luke Wright to feature on Friday then maybe? I'm sure the world will be quaking.

I wonder if India will ultimately pay the price for the way they are breezing through the group stages (our game aside obviously) in that they wont be "battle sharpened" if they have a close fought quarter/semi final or am i just straw clutching??

Actually forget that i KNOW i'm straw clutching

I don't think you are mate, India's strategy of packing their batting and going with 4 main bowlers will come back and haunt them. IMO the best bowling side will win this, and I suspect it may be the convicts.

242/0 and counting for Sri Lanka this morning against Zim. Already a record WC opening partnership.

268/0 now, 50 more needed for the record WC partnership for any wicket. This is also the 1st time both openers have got a ton in a World Cup game

They've taken their powerplay far too late considering they had 10 wickets in hand.

They should have taken it at the 34th over and declared a fire sale for the rest of the innings.

Good fightback from Zim taking 6/26, however the words "horse, stable door and bolted" spring to mind :winking:

Interesting to note that Grant Flower is on Zims coaching staff and Stuart Law (my lord) on SLs, what with Goochie and Andy Flower with England thats a fair sprinkling of Super Essex in the dugouts
