They've come in one van, they're mingling at the van. They're going in a house that is not their own. Anything else?

Something they are not allowed to do would be a start.....

Not everyone gets their 80% and a top up.......Maybe if the banks and the government actually backed up their flaky words it might help the situation.

The self employed will not be sitting at home for another 3 weeks, whilst the government tell them to wait until June for some money

our site still is and has been working through all this so far. But we have been lucky our groundwork crew are living in one house close to the site (and this was the case before the lockdown) and we have the steel frame being erected, for which revised method statements have been issued for all trades complying with social distancing. This includes the canteen area being stripped of a number of tables to ensure the 2m distance and staggered break times...so it is possible

How long can a full lockdown last before the damage to the economy is too great, and more people die through poverty from a crashed economy than covid itself?

I'm sure that's the big question for Government at the moment.

I predict another full lockdown for 3 weeks then a gradual re-opening of shops, construction, etc like we've seen in Italy, Spain etc. if the curve continues to flatten.

I think lack of materials will be the problem in the building industry riggers the trouble is all trades are reliant on the next trade example brick, timber, concrete, piping, plaster, paint, etc safety and production are the keys.
A lesson I learned way back in the early 90's,make hay while the sun shines and save some for a rainy day.

Agreed. I'll think the schools will go back on 11/5 and I probably will to.

Yes I understand that.

I was in the queue before opening this morning for the range. handy for garden furniture so my parents can sit outside and at least speak to family who drop off food. Plus a small amount of materials/paint for my odd jobs around the house. They keep numbers to a minimum in store

We drove past the Range about 10am as we were looking for wild bird seed. When we went past there was a queue half way round the outer edge of their car park so we kept going and went for our click and collect shopping.

The queue is quite long but there are less people in the shop. Probably 20/25 minutes from the top off the car park

A weekly review would seem to me to be more sensible baring in mind Italy and Spain are relaxing their quarantine measures.

Are you sure? I was on the phone to my aunt in Spain yesterday and they haven’t relaxed anything as yet. She also said it’s likely to be extended.

The irony of that was that we passed Pets at Home on the way down so chanced going back to see if they were open, they were. We got the seed and fat balls and we were the only ones in the store!

I think if anything the schools will be one of the first things to try and go back. It’s massively important for the kids education and mental health.

IMHO any talk of return to any kind of normality is fanciful in the extreme. This lockdown and strict social distancing is set to run for a long time yet. Science is the only sure fire way out of this. Saving lives takes precedence over education, surely?

As Ricey said people's mental health is important to. Social distancing yes, restaraunts and cinemas and alike still closed but I can see schools reopening.

Pretty sure

Ah ok, but they still have much stricter restrictions than us. Their children aren’t allowed outside of their own house/garden. That has not been relaxed! Their punishments for breaking the lockdown rules is far better than our pathetic fines.
