Centenary Match

that would have been nice and not involved convicing a premiership or european big boy
to be honest i dont give a f%&k about seeing some overpaid tw&ts taking the spotlight off of our lads and a our past lads

seeing roycey, andy ansah, chrissy powel, collymore etc would have been a far greater day for me - celebrate past and present
get all the even older boys out too for 10mins

they could play in the retro kit (available soon in the club shop alongside 2006 calendars) and current team in brand new kit....

hmmm just my thouhgts!!!
Actually that hadn't occured to me and I'm sure with the right amount of time & planning perhaps that could of happened but alas two years+ isn't long enough for some people to come up with and implement good ideas like that.

Yep, had the same idea some months ago, though to be honest, could we muster up 11+ ex-players who meant something to the club?

You just need to give them a bit of notice.
Maybe the centenary caught out the club? Maybe someone at the club didn't have a dictionary and didn't realise what "centenary" meant?

Athletico played their youth team and I would of seen a better game on Hackney Marshes with two pub teams playing.
Was that their centenary too ?  100 days old?

Serves you right for willingly paying money into their kitty (only excuse is when we're playing there). At least the pub teams on Hackney Marshes didn't steal their club from another pub.

And when's the next time I'd get the chance to see Athletico Madrid live unless:

1) I change the team I support for a Premier$hite club who may play them in the UEFA or Champions League.
2) I go to Madrid - love too, you paying?

Get off your high horse, the clock isn't being rolled back and they are doing their best to go under themselves.

Sorry, but anyone who puts extra money into MK coffers gets what they deserve - in this case a youth team match.

What Franchise FC have done is wrong and everyone should be aware of that to help prevent it happening to other clubs. Just saying it's happened doesn't make it right!

Royce
Austin
Powell
Spinner
Moody
Pountney
Taylor
Whelan
Marsh
Ansah
Grids
Stan
Benjy
Crown
Brett
Sammy
Best
Pennyfather
Nelson

Would make a good squad....

We organised Ronnie Pountneys testimonial in around 6 months or so and got Charlton, and the commitee weren't even football people so it can't too hard

I just wish the club had realised long ago how much they owed it to the name of Southend United FC and its supporters.
I think most people will be there on the night ( not day) but having been given two dates by the club I am disappointed, and the opposition is not great.

To attend my son and I have to spend £500 getting back from holiday for a night and then returning so it looks like this is a non-starter for me.

It will bne interesting to see how many do show up, contrasting views on here.

Oh my god!
I cant believe the stuff you have posted on here!
Reading through your posts has made me pi$$ myself, but also at the same time worry for your kind of infactuation with the club.
1st, how the hell can you even think about flying back from a holiday just to see a football match!?

2nd, If you really have nothing better to do than continuessly worry about shirt sponsor, replica shirt design and friendly games then go to the life shop!

Have you ever considered other hobby's??

I think Maisie Shrimper is another fabricated wind-up account - every post I've read has a ring of wiggy about it. Why do these people always hide behind 'female' aliases?

I tried but found women more expensive and demanding on the nerves.
I think a footballer would be more suited to Prodical Son!

Agreed, i mean this is a forum about Southend so it's not surprising we want to talk about Southend as opposed to our 1:44 airfix kits.

i know this is a southend fourm, i was just pointing out it was a wee bit sad to spend £500 on a friendly coming back from the US
, i missed notts forest last season as i was on holiday as parents had booked it before fixture list released, maybe i should of flown back to watch it,

Maisie, as someone who sits at their computer making up fake kits and trying to convince everyone on here that the team are going to wear white maybe you should visit that same life shop as me.

Popping back to Essex for a day from Portugal during a long holiday is no big deal (does'nt take long),check on the house to see if it still there etc, then hopefully see a bit of a celebration of a hobby for many years. If the price was right I would have done it in a day if the match was on a Saturday.

And why have a pop at me when my number of posts is significantly lower on here than many?

Whoever you are, don't worry about me.

You did well, it was a terrible match and one of my four away matches last season.
