Brexit negotiations thread

The Irish border is a major stumbling block - and one that has very few options so the Uk government, Irish government, and Northern Irish government should have hammered out a best fit between them then taken that to the EU. Seems every element to the process of leaving the EU comes as a surprise to our government. Maybe too many of them believed Liam Fox's 'easiest deal ever made' claims.

I was interested to see Labour MP and arch-Bexiteer Kate Hoey laying into Irish Brexit negotiator Neale Richmond on BBC Politcs earlier.

When she suggested that Ireland might be joining the UK in Brexit soon. he pointed out that in the last opinion poll in Ireland, 88% of the population were in favour of remaining in the EU.:smile:

Forget the Irish border problem, forget citizens' rights, forget how much the EU divorce bill will be, forget M. Barnier, forget M. Juncker, indeed forget Brexit. Forget the lamentable state of the NHS, forget the UK's poor production performance, forget another two decades of austerity, forget May's incompetent government, forget the weather, forget the ashes ................................................... WE'VE GOT A ROYAL WEDDING!!!!

she also allegedly said the Irish would have to pay for the border. She is the least Labour of all the Labour MPs, only reason she is still in a job is because the very notion of deselection is treated as if Stalinists are involved - in reality is because she has become an awful MP.

No we haven't.

I wonder if he'll invite his dad.

Her constituates might disagree with you.

I thought that might be the reply. Obviously it was ok for Corbyn to vote against his party line but not anyone else. I wonder why.
MP's were free to vote how they wanted to on the EU but she was one of the '£350m a week for the NHS' liars and she is now saying the Irish should pay for a border that is only potentially needed due to British government policy. She is bad a politics.

David Lammy:

In summary:
Me: "Have you done any Brexit impact assessments?"
@DExEUgov: "Yes, loads, in excruciating detail. We're on top of it"
Me: "Ok, can you publish it so we can see it?"
@DExEUgov: "No, it's secret"
Parliament: "Publish the studies"
@DExEUgov: "They never existed, sorry"

These people are in charge of our smooth exit from the EU. I'm not sure if they are constantly lying or constantly incompetent but I'm guessing it's a mix of the two.
