Brexit negotiations thread

I agree a referendum should be held, but not yet. May’s deal was (rightly) destroyed. The onus is now on her to work with the rest of her government & counterparts to achieve an improved deal. Or in other words, one that will get through Parliament. That deal should then be put to the people, against leaving with no deal.
Agreed on the timing, May should have the full opportunity to negotiate a deal that is acceptable to UK Parliament (they are our safety net, no point repartriating the element of power that is held in the EU Parliament then denying it to our own) but the end of January seems to be times up, that only leaves 2 months for whatever comes next. I'd rather a GE at that point but a new referendum I think is valid. Little point in the referendum being No Deal vs May's deal version 2 if that still has nowhere near a consensus in Parliament.

Keeping Remain off the ballot is as good as admitting that the public no longer want to leave. Even on a new referendum I give Remain a 50/50 chance of winning.

I voted to leave, not at all swayed by any of the statistics which were quoted. For other reasons that i'm not interested in having a debate about, it was my decision & final.
If there was another referendum, i'd still vote to leave, my choice, my option.
If we stay in, so be it. All Politicians lie through their teeth promising us this & that, but then claim their hands are tied afterwards.
Life go's on, very few of us have been able to better ourselves in recent years, but we 'duck & dive' & survive.
This is pretty much what I think most people's attitude is. Everyone voted one way or another but then politicians have to work out how, and that's where it falls down.
Everyone still wants what they want but aren't going to riot because they didn't get it.

Excellent. I couldn’t agree more. So we can put this peoples vote nonsense to bed then?

I'm too old to run up & down the High Street causing havoc!.
If you are going to do that in Southend High Street you best dodge the beggars and druggees & racing bikers. And if you want to smash a shop window there are plenty already boarded up that a few more wont show up to much. And no chance of meeting a copper to stop you.

realistically we are nearly out of time and No Deal won't be allowed by Parliament this time round, for the EU to extend A50 they'd require an actual reason so I reckon GE or new referendum, or both - based on stalemate and available time.

You forgot the charity muggers. I walked the length of the High Street last week and was approached (annoyed) by about 8 of them.

Easy, a deal hasn't been reached and both sides (all sides?) agree an ordered, delayed deal done Brexit is better than no deal.

And that is why JC is shy about a referendum/GE or giving anything more than a hissy fit for policy. The labour London seats are safe but north seats might be risky.

That's the problem with Labour, it has deserted its heartland. Their idea of North is Muswell Hill.

A friend of mine was at the Brexit rally the other night and Farage was talking about a new party. Emily Thornberry may well despise people who rely on a van to pay the bills but there is a lot of them. They absolutely know the Labour London elite have not only deserted them but seem to enjoy mocking them, whilst continually trying to silence them.

FYI,Emily Thornberry was brought up on a council estate. One of her brothers is a builder I believe.

"When Thornberry was seven, her parents divorced and she had to leave their home with her mother and two brothers. After this, she relied on free school meals and food parcels, and their cats were euthanised to save money,"

Btw,my younger brother-a social worker-drives a small white van.

Yes, she is another fraud who likes to claim she is one of us. Her father was lawyer who worked for the UN and Nato. She grew up in Surrey but claims she had Free school meals.

The claim about having had free school meals is absolutely true. It's in the WIKI link I quoted from and I've seen her talking about it on the box.
