Branded clothes

Are you a clothes ponce or am I missing something here?

Got on a pair of Lonsdale at the moment, but they only cost me £10 in a sale in Sports World.

Edit: I did buy a pair of proper Asics running shoes for £80 but I don't wander round MK Tesco's in 'em, purely for what they're designed for: Gym & proper running.

Respect for the Asics. I have a pair that are bloody horrible looking, but I do quite a lot of road running so proper trainers with good arch support and suchlike are essential.

Not so sure about Lonsdale though :nope:

You'll have full exposure to them tommorow :D

I shall walk 5 paces in front or behind like I did with my parents when I was a teenager then. Oh the shame!!!

My lucky (3 matches unbeaten now) brown Stan Smith comforts will be worn tomorrow. Everytime we lose I change which trainers I wear for the next game!

Because the clothes are exactly the same quality, but having a name on them that some fashion magazine has decreed is "cool" sticks another £100 on the price label.

There's no point buying clothes because they're expensive or have a big brand emblazoned but it's definitely true that smarter looking clothes tend to cost more money. That said, my favourite jeans cost a tenner from the Officer's Club (yes, I laughed too as I walked in but was genuinely surprised) and my favourite T-shirt cost about $7 from a charity shop in Seattle. On the flip side, my favourite shirt cost about £60 I think and I do seem to spend more than planned every time I go to Demo in Leigh.

I'd say my typical T-shirt costs about £20. As with Pubey, I expect the saving I make not having to smarten up for work (I've just realised I'm wearing my stuff mentioned earlier) means I can afford to spend more on casual clothing because that's all I need.

Something that i've been doing a lot recently is spending money on clothes, despite a little one on the way. The jeans that I'm wearing now are Kicking Mule Workshops 1980's X Context, they cost me £115, and that was with £50 off. A pair of 5EP's are sitting at home and they were about £105. I also have a pair of APC New Standards and Nudie Slim Jims. They may cost a lot but first two jeans will easily last me a couple of years each and look better then a pair of £20 ones from Topman.

My leather jacket cost me £230 without the added import tax and VAT.

I like my clothes to be minimalistic and without logos and there is a big difference between a £5 primark polo and a £50 Fred Perry polo, the fabric is better, it'll last you longer and the cut is so much better, making you look better, more flattering.

I'm looking for new trainers, Common Projects are first on my list. They are about £150 a pair and I've seen three pair that I want.

i f*cking love common project trainers, but just cant justify the cash at the moment, just scraped together some money for some new asics but they are staying in the box until it's proper summer, i knackered my old ones up after about 1 month!

Mate, I can't justify it either but they are amazing, I want the low black and white achilles perforated and the grey desert shoes are just mindblowing.

My Onitsuka Tigers are still recovering from V last year, covered in mud but still comfy as hell and going strong.

I have just bought a new pair of Asics 2120s to replace an old pair of 2120s. £45 on the net!

The new 2130s were £80. I'll wait until I need a new pair; the 2130s should be about £45 by then!

And, like you, I wear them in the gym, or when i'm running.

So James do you "pronate" or "supinate" when you run?

Err, one of those two, can never remember which. :stupidme:

I actually need to get some new ones and there's a proper running shop near my office so I can be sure of getting sensible advice from them anyway.

Running shop up here has got one of those treadmills that analyse the way you specifically run and then can suggest for your price-range which running shoe is best for your style.

yeah ive got the 2120s, got them for 55 i think. absolutely top trainers

Yeah, usually the expensive £80 ones.

No, they're not like that actually.
They feel they would rather people bought £40 ones and came back for a new pair when they run out. A guy I used to work with did loads of road running and went through about 5 pairs a year!

I'm lucky cycling shoes last a lot longer (especially at £150 a pair)!!!

Yeah, that's what they've got here. One of the good things about such shops is that they do half sizes. I'm right between a nine and a ten, but getting proper half sizes in most high street places is next to impossible.

Think I'll be venturing in there next week; my current Asics have never really recovered smell wise from a particularly puddle-ridden cross country run a couple of months back!

I never wear any shoes if I am riding my Bike..:whistling:

Would recommed Sport and Rock or sometihng like that right by momumet station. They filmed me running and then gave a computer print out thing.

Compare this to Mrs DtS who went to the jog shop in Brighton for an assesement. We turned up and found and old man in tight jogging bottoms who made the Mrs run about his shop before recommending the most expensive pair.....

And for Pubey, a bit of shoe porn
