Phil and Ron talking to the scout.

Phil/Ron....we demand you find the most obscure forward ,criteria must be hardly kicked a ball and rarely scores,do not offer any guys who can score with ease.

Scout...How about if the guy has plenty of previous criminal history plus he causes problems and rarely plays and scores.

Phil/Ron...We Defo need this guy, bring him to us immediately.

The strange world of SUFC signing forwards:smile:

Good to see you posting mrsb. See you have been working on the comedy scripts.

On a different tack, I read today in the Daily Torygraph in an article on tennis that ..........

.......... "sport does not develop character, it reveals the character" (or something like that).

It rings true to me ........... some players have tenacity, resolve and determination ......... others do not and no matter how many times they kick a ball around, it is unlikely to change. But I suspect dealing with difficulties outside of football can build that character.

In a good way (for Blackpool) or in a bad way ............. do tell. :tease:

Not sure the silly face merits a response but, he came on as sub when Milwall were leading/'all over them' etc, bossed the game and scored the equaliser. 'Quick, powerful, impressive....but still a c***' was his summary.

I don't know if it's only me or just a few others but I am very disappointed with this signing. In my opinion due to numerous convictions and his behaviour our club should not be associated with a player in anyway. I am not interested how good or how potentially beneficial to the team he could be. He has been given numerous chances at other clubs and has not played for nearly 2 years because of his disgraceful behaviour.
Our club is a family club and how can we employ and cheer on such a player....

With a user name like "David Icke" I would expect you to come up with something controversial and possibly amusing ............ this comment is rather hackneyed and unimaginative. Come on, you can do better than that, can't you?

Hash tag: Musttryharder2outof10

I muse his real name to be Nile Anger, and the R was added because it stood for ?. What sort of message does this signing send out to our female fans? The clubs moral compass has had an awful magnetic reversal. We don't need to scrape the barrel like this.

I understand your point, but isn't this exactly why he's only been signed on a short-term deal?

We say we're a family club but we have had our share of players who have served at Her Majesty's Pleasure (Otto/Timlin to name two) and certain business practices our glorious leaders have employed in the past may have been construed to be rather dubious.

I'm not saying anything goes but I'm not sure any football club can go around claiming to be whiter than white these days.

Speaking as somebody with a chequered past who turned the corner in his mid-twenties and who is now a solid(-ish) citizen, I hope we can play a part in his rehabilitation.

My life would have been wasted at 25 if nobody was willing to let me prove my worth.

Also, I don't believe the reputation of any of the clubs Nile has been with has been tarnished significantly. Even when he's gone astray, it's been the individual that's been blamed, not the club. Nobody thinks of Newcastle, Blackpool or Swindon poorly because they once employed Nile Ranger.

If things go pear-shaped this time, we'll get shot quickly. I'd expect us then to be seen as the club that tried to give a young man a chance to show that he was reformed but who were let down by him.

My take on it is he's been living the life of a street gangster and playing professional football, and only just realised the two don't mix. He's clearly grown up a bit now and realised thankfully that professional football is the way to go. My mindset was totally different from when I was younger to when I was 25. He knows he's been given a lifeline, that could be his last chance at this level. He's lived a disgraceful life outside of football, and I don't condone any bad thing he's done. But let's give him a chance, and get behind him, don't worry, if he messes up, we will all come down on him like a ton of bricks. Some people do change with age tho.

How dare this forum be associated with the likes of you:stunned:

It sounds to me as if Brown and Martin have taken all steps necessary with this signing to ensure that the club can legally get rid at the first sign of trouble. That's very sensible and it's good to know that the club is protected in the event of Ranger slipping back to his old ways. This will surely be his last chance, if he messes up then he's likely finished. If he recognises that (as he says he does) then this could potentially be a real coup for this football club as the lad is clearly very talented. We're desperate for a goalscorer so in my view this deal is definitely worth a shot. Yes I'd be very concerned if there were no clauses inserted to protect the club in the event of misbehaviour but it's been made very clear at any early stage that there are - if things go wrong then Ranger's feet won't touch the ground with Brown. Sometimes you have to roll the dice, especially small clubs like ours who don't have the luxury of a large budget.

In a poll 750 blues fans partook and 61% said good signing give him a chance. So for me that tells me the club are acting reasonably if not pleasing everyone.

I am liking the descriptions about him that tend to focus on the fact he is both powerful and pacey. Two things so many on here having been bemoaning the lack of at great length (some harking back to Wayne Gray..). Fit and focused Ranger is a few notches above Wayne, so lets hope the player who was described by the then Newcastle manager Alan Pardew as having 'frightening' potential when he was 20 is the one that now comes to the party.

With PB policy of 1 up front he will be the Lone Ranger!!

He has, with the right mentality, undoubtedly got the ability to be a threat ( in the nicest possible way ) to any defence in this league.
Give him a chance I say, we ain't exactly spoilt for choice ATM.

It's got to be the Lone ranger theme when he scores then:happy:

What if we sign him after a month's trial but it goes pear-shaped after the transfer window closes? We need to get a backup back-up plan.

I would hope we have more than a back up plan to this screw loose. At the moment we have barely hit a barn door Mooney, barely good enough for league 1 williams and god knows Ranger! We need at least another two strikers on top of this lot.

Do you think we'll go back to Shrewsbury with a deadline day offer (next to nothing) for Barnett? Would be a powerful frontline him and Ranger.
