Daniels will have a new manager at WBA and will want to be available and seen when their squad gets together pre-season; maybe he will get benched at WBA and move up their picking list.

It looks like Phil Smith will be your player. Great at penalty shootouts (saved loads when we beat Charlton to get to the L1 playoff final and AFC Wimbledon in JPT Last season). He gets caught out of position a lot, or did last season, not really his fault I suppose as we didnt field a reserve side. A decent number 2, was great in League 2 in 2006-07! Decent number 2 but never a number 1, Doesnt really talk to his back 4, very quiet. Great shot stopper to be fair, spent 6 seasons here became somewhat of a cult hero due to his loyalty to the club. AS I say decent back up but with a bit of confidence is a decent keeper, just needs games. You could do a lot worse.

Seen Phil Smith a number of times As I used to go to Crawley if we were away back in the days pre Evans wen they were a nothing conference side Got to say really really not keen all be it he might of got better. Literally always out of position as Gaz said. Also poor handling let's him down quite a bit. Literally was amazed that he made it as a pro as he really was a weak link at Crawley I felt.

Be delighted to be proven wrong.

It would seem (as we haven't received any other information since) that SUFC are still "closing in on a keeper" ............. we must have been a very long, long, long way away when we started ...........:omg:

With reference to Daniels, isn't he now a WBA first team player? Ben Foster will return to Birmingham (unless they've now signed him permanently), and I seem to remember Daniels on the bench for a few games towards the end of the season..

Deal for Ben Foster will be wrapped up in the next few weeks I believe.

Played under Sturrock briefly at Southampton early in his career to seems to fit the description. Better option than smith to

Was he not in goal for Torquay a couple of seasons back? Think they had a run of conceding one goal in 16 hours of play only to come to the Hall and get trumped 3-0!!

You are right i think, they won their first four games without conceding and then we beat them 2-0 with Simpson scoring at least one of the goals and maybe Hall. Not sure i rate him, very tall but doesnt get down very quickly from what i have seen on TV. Plus he lives in the south west so not sure why he would leave rovers with still a year left on his contract.

Yeh i think we beat them 2-1 at the Hall early that season. Also was the match were Scriv upset Guy Branston lol.

Scott Bevan is a good 'eeper at this level Not too sure about Smith though. If we're going for Bentley as number 2 again this season then we need a confident goalkeeper who is used to having been a number 1 recently. Not too sure that Smith fits that bill.
