Time to move on from Holmes and Ngoy. For whatever reasons they haven’t opted to join us so I’d be more interested in hearing about alternatives on our radar

Might want to hang on a bit where Ricky is concerned. Moving Holmes can be very traumatic I'm told. Mind you, if he did come here then it would be a Right Move in my opinion.

We have a decent squad, but I'm looking at other clubs in League 1 and the players they've brought in and it's painful to admit but some do look stronger than us, which is a worry. Holmes going to Oxford is very disappointing, local lad, thought we could have got him here. As for Ngoy, don't think he ever wanted to come here.

True. I am a bit concerned though that our summer transfer business has, after a good start, begun to go a bit Kinleigh Folkard and Haywire

Bury, Bradford, Peterborough to name a few all brought in good players last season, or on paper had a better squad. None are a better example than Bury but even after our poor start we still managed to finish amongst them. Had Brown not overstayed his welcome we would've been above all of them.

We can play under CP and that's all we need to worry about.

Powell on the search for new signings: "I’ve been frustrated and I know people are looking for news I don’t really have.
I’ve missed out on one or two players who have gone to other clubs. That can be down to location or the player himself but it’s not worth going into."

Sounds like he could use his loaf, rise to the occasion and slice through the opposition. That is the yeast we could expect.
Careful RN...you'll be toast if Stereoscene sees this post.

He's probably on a quite a lot of dough. Anyhow, I've heard that the Cobblers are interested but I can't prove it.

Maybe we should switch our interest to Kings Lynn's Sam Warburton or that Chelsea lad on loan at Leeds, Lewis Baker. I'm sure they'd both bloom with us.

But I think it will be if a better offer comes his way- it really feels as if he is not keen on the move as has been said. But lets see.

There must be some stumbling block stopping the move from being completed - either from our side or from Ngoy's side (which seems more likely).

Time is moving on and there is only 48 hours before the first game of the season so it's likely we will find out one way or another quite soon.

Could be Stoke waiting to see if they bring anyone in, or lose anyone. Signing players from clubs at a higher level is like buying a house, there's often a chain.

When it comes to Ngoy.....how does anybody know whether or not we’ve made an official offer? Yes Powell has been to watch him play. Yes there is interest. But as of yesterday I’m told we hadn’t yet made an actual approach to Stoke.

Feel like Holmes is a missed opportunity, mind. Will be rather surprised and disappointed if he chose Oxford over us.

Well he's now on loan to Oxford for the season, so surprised and disappointed is the order of the day.

I reckon he will be under the hammer big time when Oxford visit the Hall.

We already have a good squad, Holmes would have been nice. But he isn't a necessity and I'm not too bummed if we miss out on him.

We need a striker more than Ricky Holmes anyway. If Powell’s prioritising any remaining budget on a forward then that’s fine with me.
