If SCP was in Stoke it doesn’t mean to say the player is from that area. It could be the only time they can meet up and SCP has to get back for s game. The player could come from further up North.

That’s what I thought too. Could’ve been a half way point for them both. Doesn’t necessarily mean the player has come from Stoke or Port Vale.

Bury isn’t a million miles away from Stoke. What about Danny Mayor?

Recently relegated and may want to stay in League One. Decent winger, 27 years old and has Southend connections.

I liked David Worrall, and was sad he left because I thought he was doing a useful job for us.
But wasn't it reported that he had a drink problem, and his time keeping suffered?

I know after his child died anyone can fall off the wagon, but does anyone know if this was the case or just a rumour?

If it still is the same then would we need the disruption to the squad .
I didn't know about time keeping being a problem, he house shared locally with Lenny and Will, and (I think) Barry Corr for a time. I also wasn't aware of a drink problem although, what he went through, you could understand it.

I always liked him but he rarely managed a full 90 minutes.

to be fair peter crouch as a target man with Theo playing off him ( a bit like defoe used to for spurs) wouldn't be a bad plan A / B, the thing that would count against him would be wages I'd have thought.

I know the aim was to reduce the squads average age but if we have the chance to sign someone that has played at a world cup and at the highest level for over a decade that kind of knowledge and experience is very very rare in L1

He’s probably on 30k a week we could prob pay 10% if there willing to loan him to us, but I doubt it would happen

I’m sorry but even discussing Peter Crouch coming to Southend is ridiculous. He’s the sort of player we need but with no real links to the area I don’t see why he’d take such a big wage cut to play for us. We did very well to get Kightly at the time but this is a stretch too far IMO

Thats a decent shout and a decent player at our level. Would have been well out of reach a few years ago but as you say has been relegated so will want to stay in the division.

I’d rather we were looking for a striker right now though. Must surely be the priority.
