Here's a strange League One transfer story i recently read about....
Conor Townsend the left back at Scunthorpe was a player from Hull since his youth days from 2001 until 2016, when after going out on loan many times they eventually sold him on a free transfer to Scunthorpe. But part of that "free deal" was that Hull had put in a 40% sell on clause on his contract when they sold him to the Scunnies 2 years ago.
Anyway, their chairman has recently turned down £360,000 bids from Championship clubs, West Brom, Ipswich and (Hull to buy him back), but refused as he is holding out for a £600,000 bid from other teams.
I get the Ipswich bid, but not the Hull one.....So in all reality, they refused a 360k bid from Hull, in order to sell him to another club for 600k (with Hull getting a 40% cut that figure, it works out at a cost of a 240k of that £600k transfer fee still going to Hull)
Meaning that Scunthorpe will still only get 360k...
Most Bizarre!!!..... Especially when you add in to the fact that his contact expires at the end of the month (less than a week) & he can walk for free.
Even more so, when you think that Scunthorpe could barely field a team last night in their friendly with Nott's Forest due to a thin squad already and added to that some suffering from injuries.
