But hopper and cox were also offered deals your not making sense, you ether offer someone a contract or you don’t we did all 4 of those players, listen we will sign a striker before Doncaster!!
Given that the first news that we had submitted an offer for Taylor was on 25th May, I think we had a fairly good idea if he would take it or not more than a week before. You don’t wait to make an offer to your second choice until your first has said no, it doesn’t mean you’re going to sign both.

Very possible we will sign a striker, but saying it’s certain because we made offers for two strikers in early June isn’t great proof of that.

You have your opinion and I have mine, I sort of now how it went but I take your point but don’t underestimate our ability to go get a good striker before doncaster

Technically yeah, the Donnies have signed 2 strikers (both young /19 years old) one is Max Watters from Ashford, the other is Mallik Wills on a 6 month loan from Leeds (he played in League 2 last season, & is on a 4 year contract at Leeds, so they must see something in him).

I think their star player John Marquis will go for around £800,000 before transfer deadline day, as they seem to be in financial trouble (who isn't).
They have recently turned down £600,000 bid's from Peterborough and Aberdeen (some reports say £750,000?).

Obviously Peterborough will be flush with cash, if they get the huge money from Jack Marriott's transfer to Derby, and Marquis seems the ideal replacement for them. However despite him saying publicly that a move to Aberdeen or Peterborough would be a "sideways move" in his career....money talks!!

Obviously way out of our pay structure, but I would loved to have seen him playing in our shirt, a perfect strike partner to Cox & Co this season.
Marquis (26 yrs old) he scored 26 goals to help get them promoted into Division One, and scored 15 goals and six assists last season.

Mind you,.... he is a local lad (well south east London) and has played for local teams such as Orient and Gillingham in the past, so just maybe, a bit of charm from SCP, a tour of our new home changing rooms, followed by a walk up the pier, two rides on the dodgem's.. some fish & chips, a Rossi Ice-cream (flavour of his choice........ NO 99 flake though...... Ron's not flush with cash you know!!), & perhaps a game of crazy golf on the sea front might just convince him to sign on a free!! :Thumbs up:

Gotta go now, I forgot to take those tablets that the doctor gave me, to keep me sane!! :Smile2:

Ellis Harrison has gone from Bristol Rovers to Ipswich for £750k and Mohamed Eisa from Cheltenham to Bristol City ( Gary -Dad to Son-Lee) for an undisclosed sum hmmmm -probably just to sit on their benches. Ched Evans is rolling up at Fleetwood on loan along with Chris Long from Burnley. Is there any one left for us?

If they could happen this week 2 new players they must be in advanced stages deals take a while to get done these days

I also heard a while back that we were looking to sign a winger who was well known to us and plying his trade up north. The said winger spoke to a friend and said that he would like to play for the club and has had talks with Chris Powell.

Not heard anything since so I am guessing that he was too much money. It annoys me that ferdinand is on a big wage along with Kiernan and yet will likely not see either in a Southend shirt again.
