For those tories on here who like to patronise the 'youth' who are apparently stupid/naive etc:

Surprised by that - very interesting. That signature is the bollocks!

A very canny and strategic move on the PM's part. Time to either either put up or shut up as a couple of pundits have put it. Very cynical and opportunistic but that's politics. She'll finally have the mandate of the British people to hopefully deliver what she believes is possible with regards to Brexit. And let's not kid ourselves, this is all about Brexit and driving home those last few nails in Labours coffin as a viable political opposition.

JC will have his work cut out to even make a dent in her support and TF will be doing all he can to lobby and garner support from centrists within the Labour ranks who just know in their heart of hearts there is a distinct possibility that going forward their days of having a career in politics are numbered and their best bet is some kind of pact with the LD.

Here's what I predict. Shrimperzone will go into meltdown come 6am on the 9th of June and the run up the Guardian on line will implode due to the sheer amount of links being created to their site

Bring it on!

The right-wing pro-hard Brexiters been very quiet since Friday? Wonder why.....

Not sure as an ex Labour voter, I qualify as right wing...but were you expecting the tears and tantrums displayed by certain posters on here (including yourself when corbyn said he would support brexit...remember?) from the remain side?

I imagine what most on here want is a consensual approach towards Brexit, which will mean paying a price of some sort to the EU...it's not my preference of Brexit but respect that the way the Tories have handled Brexit so far, has meant that they no longer command a majority government....what I would now like to see is a cross party representation in the forth coming negotiations.

No tears and tantrums here. I left the party due to Corbyn's stance on the EU, but he completely won be back over the election campaign. What we did get was a lot of pro-Brexit gloating from a some posters who are conspicious by their absence.

As for a cross-party representation - that's highly unlikely. A lot of the Tories & UKIP (remember them?) want the hardest of Brexits, Labour, some Tories (the remainer PM most probably) and her bedfellows the DUP was a soft Brexit, the Lib Dems want to cancel it altogether.

My understanding is that the DUP want a frictionless border, you haven't mentioned Labour presumably because you appreciate that there are areas where their manifesto was close on Brexit to the Tories position....negotiations are always about compromise...and if the UK were to change it's position and involve other parties...then in turn the EU would need to change theirs.

What was interesting about the GE is is that both Labour and the Tories appear to have benefitted from the UKIP and SNP fall in vote share, to me it makes perfect sense for the former parties to work together for the good of the Country when it comes to Brexit.

MK seems genuinely concerned as to my well being so I'll post  I've been quiet for a number of reasons. Some personal that I needn't go into and some because I was genuinely shocked at the result and needed time to take it in rather than come on here with knee jerk reactions to baiting posts made by the usual suspects.

I'll condense my thoughts as to what's happened this past week and then due to personal work load and circumstances I shall leave you all for a while again.

1. Part of me is actually pleased about the outcome. As I have said many times on here, the worst possible kind of democracy is one without a viable opposition to keep the government of the day in check and to give the people a 'real' choice. The fact I cannot abide JC's brand of far left wing Socialism is neither here nor there. Well, that and his own personal history.

2. May and her arrogance, together with an absolute shocker of a manifesto, blew it for the Conservatives and Corbyn picked up the seats he did by promising things to people (predominantly the younger disenfranchised voter) he'll never be able to deliver even if he did get into No10.

3. I couldn't be arsed to come on here and read page after page of comments by people that actually think the Labour party one in any way shape or form. All the Labour party have done is become a party of opposition at last, something they couldn't claim to be before.

4. Brexit will still go ahead. For me that's just as important as the GE.

5. You all assume I'm a right winger and tory voter. I did go to my local polling booth but didn't vote for any of the main parties. Assume from that what you will.

6. Will there be a another GE anytime soon? In my opinion, no chance. If Labour had a more centre left leader with policies to match they'd have walked this election and the Tories know it. Is it really that important in the great scheme of things? No, not really.

Right, I'm off again now. That £35k car with the £5k of extras ain't gonna fall into my lap :winking: and I don't do lease of on the knock

That might be sooner than you (and other Tories) think.:raspberry:

I think any party who tries to force another election at this stage will lose very heavily. It's about time that they stopped bleating about the result and actually worked for the good of the country rather than personal gain. Seeing as both parties got around 75% on the national vote maybe just maybe they should try and find some common ground and put the country first for a change.

By the way this is aimed at all sides of the house.
