All this talk of Anton and his high wage demand expectations, but as far as i'm aware, I haven't heard any offers flooding in for him from similar size clubs or larger clubs (or even smaller clubs for that matter).
I wouldn't think he's wage demands would be too excessive, & if they were, there would be no way, we would still be in the running to sign him (if even we are..or ever actually if we ever was?)

After all he's 32 in 6 months, so perhaps he wants to stay local to his family and happily wind down his career, before he moves into armed robbery with Nile?

All jokes aside, I would welcome him to the club & think he would be a great signing on a loan basis until at least January, or perhaps better still until the end of the season. The thought of Ferdinand & barrett as our 2 quality & experienced cb's (also a replacement for each other in the case of injury.. or cover for a right back) which is most likely to happen within the next 40+ games) is definitely a risk worth taking.

However, I wouldn't be best pleased to wake up tomorrow & read in the Echo that Phil signed him on a 4 year contract!.. Don't get me wrong... he's good... but he's no Adam Barratt!!

Just a reminder, PB does not decide the contracts and we as a club don't sign players on a 4 year deal. He can only advise or steer the men with the purse strings.

Others have said we should sign X player on a short term contract as cover. The only players who will sign a deal like that are the likes of Deegan, who was on his way home to Ireland before we gave him his only option.

The Noel Hunt deal was about the best our club could get....One year with an option for a second depending on appearances.

Likewise when a player is in demand, Jack Payne, then he was never going to sign a one year deal as some suggested.

It worth remembering sometimes players have been on a very very good wage for a while, been careful with their money and in their early thirties it stops being so much about the money but playing regularly for what is left of their career. Now they want to feel valued and therefore reasonably remunerated but its not impossible we could look attractive - and geographically we are probably very attractive. Let's see.

I agree - it used to be far more common for players to just keep playing because they love the game and being a footballer. Many receive good financial advice and are reasonably sensible with their money especially if they have a family to consider. Getting what many of us would see as a good wage for another year or so is a very useful bonus.

I truly hope he does well and am keen to see him play. My fear is the lack of games in three years. Something like only thirty or so played in that time and not scored since Wet Sham days? Maybe this is the move he needs. Fingers crossed.

All you are doing is spreading what is 99% likely to be made up.

If its not true then its not something to be interested in.n

Don't get me wrong, some of the thinks that account posts are based on truth, but the majority is made up. By falling for it and spreading it you are doing no better than pbdream. At least you posted the source .

Am I mistaken but was the Ferdinand transfer mentioned on Transfer Centre....:smiles::smile:

and interestingly Matt Green is in the starting line up for Mansfield.

Update: And he got the winner for them in the 89th minute.... & I thought it was just us that normally gets that kind of a kick in the teeth.

Jack Payne (the trialist, not the good one) got sent off 6 minutes into his Blackpool debut today.
