In other news .......Elvis is dead lol

We were never going to seriously get Simpson. He is on way too much money and our valuation of some 200k is a long way short of the 400k orient want.

I'd much rather sign a conference top scorer for half that and have a crack at making a player ala Peterborough

Problem is a lot of the time the conference top scorers go for more than that. Even if it was halft would we really want to spent 6 figures on a player who hasn't done it at league level? Seems like a lot of money for us to take a chance on.

We've already got one...Jason Williams.

He was playing the league below.

Interesting to see Barnard has scored 2 goals already in 4 games of the Conference.

Scored 1 in 31 games last season in League Two.

Too few games played but that could be a measurement of how much easier it is to score at that level.

Jason Williams will eventually end up at Billericay town or canvey etc. He is not a league striker and will never score goals. He doesn't ever look remotely like scoring and I'm bewildered how he gets contact after contract.

I would say 75k for akinola and 150k for dennis

Akinola scored 9 goals in 40 games. zero this year (even Barnard scored 2)

Dennis from Bromley? 5 goals in 23.

I can imagine the outcry if we spent those amounts on those two.

Don't you let mrsblue hear you say that.... :winking:

Akinola isn't really a striker though, more of a winger/forward, a bit like Franny Laurent.

Brown: "This has been one of the worst transfer windows in history. The lower teams are getting squeezed by the teams at the top."

From what I've seen I don't think he is up to it either. He hasn't had a fair run of games at this level to write him off completely though. His goals to game ratio in both spells at Chelmsford were very impressive and given a whole season at that rate he would have been league top scorer in national league south, that is enough to get you a league move in most cases so I can see why we haven't given up on him yet.

He did do well there, but his loan didnt end particularly well, went 5 or 6 games without a goal.

The coaching staff must rate him though, after all it was one of them who took him to Chelmsford.

I'm pretty much with you on this. Don't see anything in this lad that makes me think he has a future at league level. Seen lots of similar players over the years. There's always the chance of him doing a Gary Hooper, but I'd bet my house on it going the other way.

Well there isn't long left in the transfer window. We need Atleast another 3 very good players to stand a chance of a top 12 finish. And that's only if we can keep woody timlin and Ranger also fit.
