We're not, and nor is Phil Brown. That's why he's gone striker crazy at the moment. He also see's what Mooney and Williams are doing, or not doing.

I disagree, u will find many posts on here, stating that get ranger fit etc etc, he is a class act etc etc. I'm not saying he isn't those things, it's just he is yet to show it having only played 26 mins. We've no idea what he will do or be capable of as we are yet to see him over a sustained period. PB by his own admission said it is a gamble signing him up. It will have to be fingers crossed at this stage

Wouldn't read too much into him not being in the squad today as he apparently travelled but pulled out due to a back injury he picked up in their midweek game.

True ... but the injury was caused when he bent down to pick up his phone - his agent was giving him an update on how talks with Ron were progressing ...... :'(

22 year old Johnny Margetts scored four goals yesterday for Lincoln, and looks like a shrewd signing by the Cowley brothers. He might be worth a look. It would be a shame if Southend spend a fortune on a player like Jay Simpson.

The other point to consider here is that PB wants to Nile Ranger to lead the line, but with Ranger out for at least a month Southend will not have a real target man in the side during that period. If Reuben Reid is still available, he might be worth signing at least on a short term basis.

There have been several mentions on here that Mr Reid might have fitness problems. If he's fit then absolutely, if not, give it the swerve maybe.

A lot of talk yesterday about Simpson .Not about his back injury but mostly on how Oirent will have to of load him because of the new rule about you must not go over your finances on your playing staff .And many are saying Oirent are well over the top money wise .Now I know nothing about this rule maybe someone on hear can enlighten me of this rule .???

It's the L2 wage cap rule.

He was fine on Friday and in the squad and then phoned in sick Sat morning citing the back (a ready made excuse). He wants out- although I read on here someone saying that he wants to stay at Orient!! So many things get posted takes some work to differentiate between fact and fiction..

The fact Ron went to the Orient game seems to confirm its still ongoing and its obviousy hard ball negotiations with Ron banning any further press comments..

I don't believe any league two player to be worth half his reported 8k pw wages.

If we pay anywhere near that , then we have regressed in our wage structure yet again.

Hang on - a few days ago I read it was £7,000 per week ....... and a couple of weeks ago it was said that he was on £5,000 per week ............. better get him signed up quickly as his wages seem to be going up as each day passes .................:omg: :stunned:  :dim:

The only thing that's pretty nailed on is that just about everything we've read on here has been guesswork/fishing* delete as appropriate. Nevertheless, it filled a few moments of boredom in the last few weeks so thanks one and all

I have it on good authority that Cox is on £4000 per week and we offered Simpson £5000 + bonuses a week...

if he doesn't want to play in a league above on a bloody good wage then you have to question the blokes loyalty to his wallet (if the Orient wage rumours are to be true!)

What good authority is this though? £5k seems far too high for us to pay. If Orient need to get rid of due to financial rules how would us paying 9k for two players allow us to stay within them? (or is League1 not affected?)

We were told Eastwood was on that when he came back and he was on less than 2k, far too many people hear something from "someone" and believe it as gospel.

Bear in mind we were paying the likes of Barrett hem from the Payne money so I wouldnt be surprised we have some money to spend, but £200k + for a player and 5k a week sounds like a massive jump.

A huge gamble considering the bloke has had one good season and that came in league 2!
as for the source it's somebody very close to the club - however I wouldn't put my mortgage on it being true - just a thought
